MH native earns doctoral degree
MILL HALL — Dr. Courtney M. Walsh, a Mill Hall native, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in August 2019, where she earned her doctoral degree in Human Development and Family Sciences.
Dr. Walsh researched couple’s romantic relationships and individuals’ identities. Her dissertation, “Emotional Capital and the Benefits for Personal Well-being: How Positive Moments with You, Might Help Me Too,” specifically focused on couples’ shared everyday positive moments.
Courtney earned her MA from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016, her MS (Psychology) from Villanova University in 2014, and her BA from Washington and Jefferson (Psychology, with minors in Mathematics, English, and Gender & Women’s Studies) in 2012.
Courtney is a 2008 Central Mountain High School graduate, where she received high honors and participated/set records in soccer, basketball and track and field. She played basketball at W&J College and worked in Residence Life both at W&J College and Villanova University.
She is the daughter of Dr. Jeffrey and Wendy Walsh of Mill Hall, she was a Professor of Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas and is currently a Survey Scientist at the American Institute of Physics.
