Stiver — Doherty
Wendy A. Stiver and John P. Doherty swing-danced their way into a new chapter in life at their wedding celebration held Oct. 6, 2018 at Millbrook Playhouse.
The bride is newly retired as community editor at The Express newspaper. She is the widow of Robert N.G. Stiver of Lock Haven and daughter of the late John W. and Rose Minnie Akeley, also of Lock Haven.
The bridegroom, of Great Mills, Md., is newly retired after 22 years as a civilian engineer with the U.S. Department of Defense. He is the son of Jean Rose Doherty of Colorado and the late Paul J. Doherty.
Elizabeth Rose Lewis, of Bethlehem, Pa., niece of the bride, was the maid of honor.
Robert D. Stack, of Laflin, Pa., brother-in-law of the bride, was the best man.
Ushers were James P. Akeley of East End, Mill Hall, brother of the bride; George C. Lewis III of Bethlehem, brother-in-law of the bride; and Michael G. Lewis of Philadelphia, nephew of the bride.
The celebrant was Rev. Bruce Wallace and the soloist was Laura Orndorf.
Music included several selections by Phil Reeder and Dale Haines.
Professional illustrator A.J. Young, nephew of the bridegroom, created a humorous artwork for the newlyweds, featuring “Chicken-Zilla” coming to check out their suburban coop.
The couple continues to enjoy a never-ending honeymoon.
