AUBURN -- The College of Education at Auburn University has announced that Dr. Amy Serafini has been granted tenure and promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Foundations, Leadership & Technology.
Dr. Serafini joined Auburn University in 2018 as an Assistant Professor after earning her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Her academic appointment followed a decade-long career as a school administrator along the U.S./Mexico border, serving in the Socorro, El Paso and Alpine school districts.
A native of Renovo, and alumna of Bucktail Area High School, Dr. Serafini's educational journey includes earning a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Education in Instructional Leadership from Bucknell University.
Since joining Auburn, Dr. Serafini has garnered recognition for her exceptional work. Her peers nominated her for the Outstanding Faculty Outreach Award and Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award, and she received the Outstanding Junior Faculty Paper Award from the Southern Regional Council of Educational Administrators.
Serafini's national leadership includes serving as the elected Program Chair of the American Educational Research Association Mentorship & Mentoring Practices Special Interest Group and as an appointed member of the Southern Regional Educational Board of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Commission.
Dr. Serafini's research is uniquely informed by her leadership experience and a transformative near-death experience on a commercial flight. Her work explores the intersection of positive psychology and psychological flexibility in effective leadership, personal and professional development and well-being.
Dr. Amy Serafini is the daughter of William Serafini and the late Virginia Serafini of Renovo.
