BELLEFONTE -- A weekend of music, fun, food and entertainment at Bellefonte Victorian Christmas is right around the corner!
This Friday, Dec. 8, marks the opening ceremonies of the event beginning at 6 p.m. on Howard Street outside of the Centre County Historical Museum. The Victorian Brass Band, Class Act Productions community theater and magician Richard Benninghoff will provide entertainment while refreshments are served.
Mayor Gene "Buddy" Johnson will proclaim the opening of the weekend-long event at 7:15 p.m. followed by a musical extravaganza at the Bellefonte Presbyterian Church.
On Saturday, Dec. 9, there will be a Christmas Music Crawl from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with free music throughout Downtown Bellefonte. For times, locations and performers visit bellefontevictorianchristmas.com/saturday-christmas-music-crawl-series/
There will also be a Holiday Cookie Crawl -- purchase a limited edition cookie tin featuring a photo of the Talleyrand Park Gazebo taken by local photographer Jeff Shultz. Only 100 tins will be available for purchase -- $25 cash or check -- from either Woodring's Floral Gardens, the Centre County Library or Smith and Front (at the Gamble Mill).
Once you've purchased your tin, you will receive a card listing all participating businesses and merchants, and you can take your tin and card to each merchant and receive a free cookie!
For those of you looking to finish your Christmas shopping, you can check out the Victorian Christmas Arts and Crafts show at the YMCA and Bellefonte Elementary school from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or you could visit one of Bellefonte's many businesses.
At 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, you can continue your Christmas shopping at the Bellefonte Winter Market held along Spring Street. 200 limited edition tins will be available for purchase at the Winter Market if you did not already receive one.
There will also be a brand new event this year -- the Christmas Cruise on the Creek. You can purchase boat kits to decorate at Art a la Carte and sail them on Spring Creek during the Christmas Cruise.
There are many more events throughout the weekend that will be a big hit with everyone! Some are ticketed and high in demand, so make sure you sign up before supplies and space run out.
