Station Gallery to host new workshops beginning June 15

PHOTO PROVIDED The Station Gallery will host multiple journaling workshops, the first set of which to take place on June 15.

LOCK HAVEN — The Clinton County Arts Council will be hosting a journaling workshop beginning Saturday, June 15 and continuing into July.

The workshops will be held in three separate segments at The Station Gallery, 2 E. Bald Eagle St., Lock Haven.

“As journaling has become more useful in our daily lives, the Station Gallery has decided to enhance your sketching, writing, cartooning or daily diary with some fun techniques to practice,” CCAC Past President Carol Cillo said. “A way to relax, regroup and rethink your own plans, memories or ideas — the idea of journaling is something anyone can do — and we hope to get you started or add to what you do now.”

The first workshop will be taught by Jackie Thomas from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and including simple techniques anyone can do. All supplies will be provided.

Participants will work with mixed media on paper, and then do a folding technique to create your own ZINE.

“Perfect for those of us who write poetry, want to develop a character for a small cartoon story, jot down a memorable event or even create a super-special greeting card for friends and family,” Cillo said.

Day 2 of the series will take place on June 22 and cover book covers with Cillo serving as the instructor.

This day will have participants use found objects and shapes to do a simple “block print” onto a piece of fabric which will be turned into a book cover for your favorite book or journal. No experience is necessary and materials will be provided.

Day 3 will take place on July 6 and be a photo exploration workshop with instructor Bruce Wallace.

As Rod Stewart sang, “every picture tells a story,” and we all know that a picture is worth a thousand words. Come and learn some easy ways to use photography as a means of self-exploration and enhance your well-being. Words optional! No experience necessary!

This series requires no previous experience, but will be fun for all levels to try.

“Bring your own bag lunch, or you can pop out into Downtown Lock Haven to enjoy our many great lunch spots in town,” Cillo said.

Cost is $20 for members of the Clinton County Arts Council, and $25 for non-members.

Starting at $3.69/week.
