BOALSBURG — Celebrate the best of Pennsylvania sounds, tastes and fun at the Local Groove Music Fest, presented by WPSU. The festival will be held from 2-8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, at Tussey Mountain Ski and Recreation in Boalsburg.
Musicians scheduled to perform at Local Groove Music Fest include Cass & The Bailout Crew, Hannah Bingman, The Sorters, The Pennsoulvanians, Jim Colbert and Ted McCloskey & The Hi-Fis.
Some of the bands who will perform live at the festival were first featured by WPSU on The Local Groove Presents.
Julie Ammon, a fourth-year digital arts, media design and film production major in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications, is a digital production intern for WPSU. She works behind the scenes on The Local Groove Presents and with the musicians.
“My internship focuses on hands-on production experience and offers me the chance to learn more about media production and practice those skills outside of the classroom as it is the kind of work I want to pursue after college,” said Ammon. “The musicians put on lively performances for the public television series, which gives WPSU viewers an opportunity to watch remotely. The Local Groove Music Fest’s in-person performances will offer an immersive experience to audiences. All bands are native to Pennsylvania, but they span a variety of genres and styles. Seeing any of these groups perform is a special experience that is worth witnessing, especially live.”
Tickets for the Local Groove Music Fest are $40 per person if purchased in advance.
Tickets purchased after 5 p.m. on Sept. 6 and at the venue will be $45 per person.
Children 10 years old and under are free admission.
Gates open for the festival at 1 p.m. on Sept. 8 and it will be held rain or shine. Tickets are nonrefundable.
No outside food or beverages will be permitted. Concert-goers are asked to bring folding chairs.
Proceeds from ticket sales benefit WPSU, a service of Penn State Outreach.
