CU exhibit to close out with reception Friday; Together on Earth set for April 11-May 11

LOCK HAVEN -- The Clinton County Arts Council's Station Gallery, 2 E. Bald Eagle St., Lock Haven, are keeping busy this spring.
Friday will mark the closing reception for its Commonwealth University Student exhibit, followed soon after by the opening of its Together on this Earth exhibit on April 11.
COMMONWEALTH UNIVERSITY EXHIBIT
"The exhibition (is) student artwork selected from all three campuses of Commonwealth University (Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, and Mansfield)," CCAC Past President Carol Cillo said. "This will be the first combined exhibition of student work representing all three campuses since the merger."
Cillo said the work is primarily that of Art majors, some are BA students and some are BFA students and include selections from ceramics, digital art, drawing, fabric design, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. These represent all of the areas of Studio Art at Commonwealth University.
The exhibit's closing reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 4.
The public is invited to attend the event to meet with students and faculty to discuss their artwork.
TOGETHER ON THIS EARTH
Together on this Earth exhibit will open on April 11 with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. and run until May 11.
This special exhibit will showcase animals, humans, or both interacting together and is a regional themed exhibit showing various media as used by artists from within a 150 mile radius of the Station Gallery.
"This exhibit accepted all media types, and was an open call for artwork -- which means everyone could have an opportunity to enter. This theme was created to offer open interpretation describing the time period we honor earth day and how we humans interact with it -- through relationships with animals or other human beings," Cillo said. "We look forward to the variety of artworks and the meeting of artists at an opening reception."
Cillo said there will be ribbon awards, presented at approximately 7 p.m., and a People's Choice award to be selected by those who attend that night.
The exhibit will run from April 11 to May 11, and be open for viewing on opening night, as well as during our regular gallery hours on weekends: Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
"All are welcome to stop by and view the art as well as coming to celebrate the beginning of Spring by joining artists, Clinton County Arts Council members and all the community of our region," Cillo said.
