WILLIAMSPORT -- The Community Theatre League (CTL), in collaboration with the Lycoming College Music Department and with support from the Pennsylvania College of Technology, is thrilled to present "Sister Act: The Musical" as part of Student Summer Stock from July 11-13.
This uplifting and comedic production will showcase the talents of local high school students, currently in grades 9-12, in a spectacular performance filled with soulful music, dynamic choreography and a heartwarming story.
Directed by Seth Sponhouse, CTL's Executive Artistic Director, with Assistant Director Seth Confer, Music Direction by Lycoming College Faculty Sarah Keely Decker and Pit Conducting by William Ciabattari, "Sister Act: The Musical" promises an unforgettable experience of laughter, joy and powerhouse vocals.
"We are so excited to bring Sister Act to the Community Arts Center stage," said Seth Sponhouse. "This show is an electrifying mix of humor, heart and show-stopping music, and this collaboration with Lycoming College and Penn College will make it an incredible experience for both our cast and audience."
Based on the hit 1992 film, "Sister Act: The Musical" follows disco diva Deloris Van Cartier as she finds herself in protective custody at a convent, transforming the choir and the community with her larger-than-life personality and powerful voice.
Featuring original music by Alan Menken ("Beauty and the Beast," "The Little Mermaid"), this feel-good musical is packed with gospel-inspired songs and non-stop entertainment.
The Community Arts Center is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pennsylvania College of Technology, a national leader in applied technology education.
This performance features music by Alan Menken; lyrics by Glenn Slater; is based on the book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane and based on the Touchstone Pictures Motion Picture, "Sister Act," written by Joseph Howard.
The cast includes: Lana Perry as Deloris Van Cartier; Jax Valladares Quinones as Mother Superior; Maddy Lundy as Sister Mary Robert; Rebecca Winter as Sister Mary Patrick; Hannah Bastian as Sister Mary Lazarus; Isabelle Campbell as Sister Mary Martin-of-Tours; Caroline Pelly as Sister Mary Theresa; Albert Campbell as Monsignor O'Hara; Elijah Burger as Eddie Souther; Elias Franciscus as Curtis; Xavier Johnston as TJ; Elijah Nilson as Joey; Marco Blas as Pablo/Dance Captain; Sean Holder as Ernie/Pool Player; Caitlyn Killian as Tina/Nunsemble/Dance Ensemble/Dance Captain; Makayla Flournoy-Brown as Michelle/Nunsemble; Andrew Ware as cop/alter boy/dance ensemble; Collin Santore as cab driver/altar boy; Christian Berwangor as newscaster/altar boy/dance ensemble; and Miles Soha and Elias Rodriguez as altar boy/ensemble.
