Pocket Vinyl performs for crowd at Avenue 209 Coffeehouse

LOCK HAVEN -- Avenue 209 Coffee House was thrumming with energy on Tuesday evening as Pocket Vinyl returned to the stage.
Pocket Vinyl is a husband and wife duo: Eric is a one band piano-band -- performing a slam rock piano solo paired with Elizabeth, an on-stage painter.
During each show, Elizabeth creates a work of art which is then auctioned off afterwards. Every painting she completes is unique and thought up on the spot during the performance.
This year's Pocket Vinyl performance honored a community staple and longtime friend of Eric and Elizabeth: Tim Dobos.
Timothy "Tim" Dobos passed away July 11, 2024 after a 10 year battle with ALS.
"He had a boldness and a courage when facing his own sickness," said Eric, "He was able to give himself five years more than the average prognosis (with ALS) is. I think that is purely related to his attitude."
The evening was full of stories about Tim relating to the music Eric played, and remembering him for his dark humor and what a joy he was to speak with.
"I miss him. I once read in a book a long time ago, 'look to people who are dying because they'll show you how to live.' Tim embodied that 100 percent," said Eric.
The night was full of fun and laughter both from the artists on stage and the members of the audience.
Not only did Eric perform an entirely improvised instrumental piece prompted by an audience member, but towards the end of the set he also improvised a silly song about the merch they had available.
They had tons of merchandise for sale at the event -- CDs, cassettes, vinyls, t-shirts, stickers, bracelets and various books. They also had prints of paintings Elizabeth has completed during other shows.
After the set, Elizabeth spoke briefly about the painting she'd completed.
"Because the paintings happen so quickly I don't have time to process them until days later. The vibe of the space dictates the colors and what happens," she said.
