MILL HALL — Millbrook Playhouse is excited to announce the launch of a brand-new cabaret series, Back at the Barn, celebrating the talented alumni who got their start on the playhouse stage. The inaugural event features beloved Millbrook veteran Nicholas Carroll, alongside resident Musical Director Mo Ortbal and special surprise guests.
This two-night event promises an evening of live music, heartfelt stories and hilarious anecdotes as alumni return to the very stage where their artistic journeys began. Audiences will enjoy a mix of personal reflections, show tunes and a celebration of the vibrant community that has grown around Millbrook Playhouse over the years.
Carroll started his theatrical journey at Millbrook Playhouse as a munchkin in “The Wizard of Oz” in 2006. He went on to perform leading roles in productions such as “Once Upon a Mattress” and “The Odd Couple” before earning his BFA in Musical Theatre from Ithaca College.
After graduating, Nick’s career took him around the world and across the country. He has performed in Broadway national tours of “The Sound of Music” and “My Fair Lady” and has graced the stages of numerous regional theaters across the U.S.
In 2021, he returned to the Millbrook stage after the COVID shutdown to perform in the original musical “Yours Sincerely, a Sentimental Journey.”
Carroll continues to travel the world, with his next adventure taking him to sea as Cogsworth in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” aboard the Disney Dream, with voyages to the Caribbean and Europe. You can follow his journey on Instagram at @nickcarroll.
Mo Ortbal, resident musical director at Millbrook Playhouse, brings over eight seasons of experience leading music for both main stage and Youth Ensemble productions. She has musical directed favorites including “Mamma Mia!,” “Newsies,” “Godspell,” “The Addams Family,” “Elf” and this season’s “Tuck Everlasting.” She will be joined by a live band featuring Dominic DePasquale on drums and Philip Burlingame on bass.
Back at the Barn premiers Sept. 19 and 20, at 7:30 p.m. each night, in the Poorman Cabaret of the Millbrook Playhouse.
