‘Light of the World’: Renovo Area Community Choir to perform A Cantata for Advent & Christmas

On Dec. 7, at 2 p.m., the 7th Street First United Methodist Church will host the Renovo Area Community Choir as they present A Cantata for Advent & Christmas by Joseph Martin and Pamela Martin.

With carols of faith, the everlasting story of the “Light of the World” will come alive declaring the birth of a child named Jesus.

Narrating the cantata will be Jamie Stone as the choir sings traditional hymns and other music created for this sacred season. Beginning with “In the Bleak Mid-Winter,” the story unfolds with “The Promised Light,” “An Advent Credo,” “Advent Celebration,” “Bethlehem Light (O Little Town of Bethlehem),” “In Silence He Came,” “Rise and Shine!,” “Invitation to the Manger” (O Come Little Children), “All is Calm, All is Bright (Silent Night, Holy Night)” and concluding with “A Blessing of Light.” Courtney Billings will be the featured soloist for both “In the Bleak Mid-Winter” and “In Silence He Came.”

As the choir sings, Sophia Heiser, Matthew Ross, Kohen Stewart, Kahner Stewart, Joseph Heiser, Quinn Dorman and Stephen Heiser will bring the Christmas story to life.

Three special numbers will precede the cantata, featuring Dennis Smith singing “We Are the Reason” accompanied by Abby Novak, Kedda Bissman on keyboard playing “Christmas is Coming” and Jim Cozzi singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” accompanied by Abby Novak.

Following the concert, the audience is invited to a time of refreshments provided by the Renovo Area Women’s Club.

Come and celebrate this special season with the choir as they recognize the true meaning of Christmas.

Starting at $3.69/week.
