Local author wins international book award

MONTGOMERY — Author E.P. Klopp’s debut novel, “An Orange Dog Named Blue,” has won an international award.

Klopp released her first book one week before her senior year at Lycoming College. Now, “An Orange Dog Named Blue” is a 2025 recipient of the Christlit Book Award. Based out of the United Kingdom, the award recognizes outstanding books containing themes of faith. In addition, the novel is in the running for the Christlit Book of the Year award in the middle grade genre.

“I am incredibly blessed to be acknowledged by this organization,” said E.P. Klopp. “To accept an international award is huge and I never thought it could happen to me. I’m very excited to see what the future holds.”

With a new book cover designed by artist flipsieflopsie, “An Orange Dog Name Blue” features the award seal. Released in 2022, the middle grade novel follows a young farm boy named Wally in the year 1899. When he finds a Brittany puppy in a wheat field, adventure ensues and a mystery is solved. The story encourages readers to stand up for others and is a tail-wagging good time.

E.P. Klopp is a children’s author dedicated to spreading kindness and love to young readers! She brings a delightful mix of humor, adventure,and heart-warming lessons to inspire hope in kids everywhere. Her series include “Hope in Heartland” and “Ruby Red Paw.”
