William Ciabattari to perform Sibelius with the WSO on March 17

WILLIAMSPORT -- The Williamsport Symphony Orchestra (WSO) recently announced William Ciabattari has been named the winner of the 2026 Young Artists Competition.
Selected by a distinguished panel of judges following a highly competitive audition process held on Sunday, Feb. 1, William stood out for his exceptional musicianship, technical command and expressive artistry.
As the competition winner, William will be featured as soloist with the WSO at its upcoming concert on Tuesday, March 17, at 7:30 p.m., at the Journey Bank Community Arts Center in Williamsport. He will perform music of Jean Sibelius' Violin Concerto, showcasing one of the most powerful and lyrical works in the violin repertoire.
William Ciabattari attends Williamsport Area High School, where he has been a featured soloist and concertmaster for three years. He has recently performed in area pit orchestras for musicals, the Nutcracker Ballet orchestra, the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra, and the NEPA Choral Society orchestra. William was honored to attend PMEA All-State Chorus in 2024 and All-State Orchestra last year as fourth chair, first violin. He plans to continue focusing on the violin in his collegiate studies.
The Young Artists Competition is part of the WSO's ongoing commitment to supporting and showcasing emerging talent in our region. By providing young musicians the opportunity to perform with a full professional orchestra, the WSO continues its mission of fostering artistic excellence and strengthening cultural vibrancy in North Central Pennsylvania.
