Williamsport Symphony Youth Orchestra to present free spring concert May 3
WILLIAMSPORT — The Williamsport Symphony Youth Orchestra (WSYO) will present a free public concert on Sunday, May 3, at 4 p.m., at the Journey Bank Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport.
The concert will showcase the remarkable talents of young musicians from across the region, featuring both the Williamsport Symphony Youth Orchestra, conducted by Dr. David Tedford, and the Williamsport Symphony Junior Strings, conducted by Maestro Nelson Rodriguez-Parada.
The WSYO will perform an exciting and diverse program including the Overture to Oberon by Carl Maria von Weber, an arrangement of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor, highlights from “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” by Howard Shore (arranged by Whitney) and the iconic Superman March by John Williams.
The Junior Strings ensemble will present a charming and engaging set featuring an arrangement of Swan Lake by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, The Old Boatman by Florence Price (arranged) and Bonus Level by Doug Spata.
The concert will conclude with a combined performance by both ensembles of Ancient Echoes of Time by Douglas Wagner, bringing all of the young musicians together for a powerful finale.
This family-friendly performance highlights the dedication and artistry of the next generation of musicians while offering an inspiring musical experience for audiences of all ages.
