Millbrook Playhouse invites you to the basement: Jackson Pavlik stars in comedy ‘Buyer & Cellar’ beginning June 5

MILL HALL — The Millbrook Playhouse Board of Directors, alongside Artistic Director David Leidholdt and Managing Director David Gritzner, are proud to kick off their 63rd Season by transforming the intimate Poorman Cabaret into the world’s most exclusive (and bizarre) shopping mall.
Opening the summer slate is Jonathan Tolins’ Lucille Lortel Award-winning comedy, “Buyer & Cellar,” running from June 5 through June 13, 2026.
What’s a struggling L.A. actor to do? For Alex More, the answer is taking a job that is literally “beneath” him: working in the private, rustic-village-style shopping mall located in the basement of Barbra Streisand’s Malibu estate.
When the Lady Herself wanders downstairs to “shop,” an absurd, hilarious and surprisingly touching relationship develops. Part biting satire and part sparkling love letter to a legendary diva, “Buyer & Cellar” is a fictionalized exploration of the price of fame and the delightful oddity of fan culture.
To open this milestone season, Millbrook is thrilled to welcome Jackson Pavlik back to the barn to take on a challenging one-person tour de force.
Pavlik has become a beloved staple of the Millbrook family, most recently dazzling audiences as the buttoned-up Wadsworth in “Clue” and the electrifying Frank-n-Furter in “The Rocky Horror Show.”
The production is guided by Director Shannon Agnew, whose creative influence has been a cornerstone of Millbrook’s success for years. Audiences will remember her work on stage in “Every Brilliant Thing,” “Sidekicked” and “The Little Mermaid,” and her directorial work on “Camelot,” “Escape to Margaritaville,” “Beauty and the Beast” and the record-breaking, sold-out run of “Mamma Mia!”
Bringing Barbra’s basement to life is a talented team of designers and staff:
— Scenic Design: David Leidholdt and Shannon Agnew
— Associate Scenic Designer: Cade M. Sikora
— Lighting Design: Connor Kleckner
— Sound Design: Shannon Agnew
— Props Design: V.C. Deener
— Associate Producer/Electrician: Ericka Lee Conklin
— Production Stage Manager: Kaidyn Rogers
