Otto Bookstore to host free AI awareness night for families, community

WILLIAMSPORT — Otto Bookstore will host AI Awareness Night: A Community Experience on Tuesday, June 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. The free event is designed to engage families, educators and community members in an accessible and welcoming exploration of artificial intelligence and its impact on learning, creativity and everyday life.

The evening will open with a keynote address by Frank Baker, author and media literacy educator, followed by a moderated panel discussion on what AI means for the local community. Panel topics will include AI in everyday life, its impact on jobs, business and education, common misconceptions, and how to prepare children for an AI-influenced future.

“This event is about curiosity, not expertise,” said John Shableski, the bookstore’s general manager. “We want community members to feel comfortable asking questions, exploring new ideas and leaving with a better understanding of how AI touches their lives.”

Beginning at 7 p.m., guests are invited to rotate freely through a series of interactive exploration stations for children and adults alike. Stations will include:

— Build-a-Bot Craft Corner — Hands-on, low-tech creativity for all ages

— Make Your Own Light-Up Nametag Station

— Mini Session: AI and Learning — How AI is used in classrooms

— Mini Session: Helping Kids Use AI Safely — Conversations, boundaries and expectations

The Make Your Own Light-Up Nametag station will open before the 6 p.m. program begins and remain available throughout the evening.

The event will conclude with closing remarks, distribution of resource packets, bookstore recommendations and information on continued learning opportunities. RSVP at OttoBookstore.com.

Starting at $3.69/week.
