Bellefonte Community Band to perform at South Hills July 5

STATE COLLEGE — South Hills School of Business & Technology announces the fifth event of the 2026 Music Picnic Series.

On Sunday, July 5, free entertainment will begin at 6 p.m. on the north lawn with The Bellefonte Community Band.

Celebrate America’s 250th birthday with an “America 250” themed concert from the Bellefonte Community Band.

The all-volunteer ensemble of musicians from throughout the Centre Region will perform songs that honor America and Pennsylvania, from John Philip Sousa to Fred Rogers and even Punxsutawney Phil.

The concert will also recognize local musicians who performed in the 1976 Bicentennial parades in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. The Bellefonte Community Band is under the direction of Leigh Hurtz and Meg Pedlow Smith.

These free, outdoor concerts are held at South Hills’ main campus, 480 Waupelani Drive, State College.

Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. Grounds open at 4 p.m., music starts at 6 p.m. and lasts until 7:30 p.m. This year the event will feature Dogs on the Run hot dog cart. There is plenty of free parking and restrooms are available.
