Rehearsals begin for The Williamsport Civic Chorus’ 2026-2027 concert season

WILLIAMSPORT -- A new season brings fresh leadership for the Williamsport Civic Chorus. The group welcomed Michael Welch as the new director of its beloved Chorus in its 83rd year!
A native of Kentucky, Michael brings a rich and varied background as a singer, conductor and composer and currently directs non-traditional students in choirs across Pennsylvania as the founder of Cadence Music and Arts Programs.
The chorus will be holding two concerts this season that include:
-- Harvest Home, which celebrates the season and Americana compositions in this, the nation's 250th anniversary year, on Nov. 22 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Williamsport. This concert is part of the Victorian Christmas' weekend of "stars, stripes and Victorian delights."
-- Miniature Masterworks, which will feature works by composers of both classical and contemporary will be held in the spring. This performance will feature works that are short in duration but long on impact.
"Join us, then -- either as a singer or patron, or by sitting in the audience and enjoying the beautiful music," a release from the group said.

First rehearsal for the 2026-2027 season is Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 142 Market St., Williamsport, next to Robert M. Sides Family Music.
