Arts group announces line-up for LH Fringe set for Oct. 16, 17

LOCK HAVEN -- Absolutely! Theatre and Fundraising, Inc. has announced the 2026 Lock Haven Fringe line-up of entertainment slated for Friday, Oct. 16, and Saturday, Oct. 17, at various venues in the city.

The Fringe is designed to celebrate the arts, culture and creativity with an emphasis upon making performances accessible to the public. The non-ticketed events are free to the public but people wishing to dine at some venues may consider making reservations.

The Fringe opens on Friday, Oct. 16, with Chris Hull, a singer, producer, guitarist and writer from Southampton, Pa., featured at The Broken Axe Brew House, 1 E. Bald Eagle St., from 7 to 9 p.m. He is described as an Americana musician and singer with styles that are power pop, new wave, rock and reggae crossed with blues.

Steve Marchion, rock ukulele musician and singer, will perform from 9 to 10:30 p.m. at Hangar 9 Restaurant and Lounge, 208 Bellefonte Ave.. Steve is a 2000 graduate of Lock Haven University and pledged Alpha Chi Rho. He is a favorite at coffeehouses in the Philadelphia region.

On Saturday, Oct. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m., Amira Jenna, a spoken word performer and poet, will read poetry and perform at Avenue 209 Coffee House on Bellefonte Avenue. Amira is a writer who was heavily influenced growing up in North Carolina and Philadelphia. She explores themes of love, loss, advocacy, social norms and personal growth. Her performances describe raw emotional energy and bring the audience along to explore transformation and compassion in their own lives. She brings up issues of mental health stigma, racism, sexism and equality in her writings.

Lock Haven Fringe wraps up with Stand-Up Comedy Night at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Trackside Room, 433 E. Clinton St. beginning at 8 p.m. with opening act Lennon Free. He is a Harrisburg-based comedian who is a favorite at the Harrisburg Comedy Zone and has toured nationally with numerous comedians.

Joe Ohrin is the spotlighted entertainer with over 20 years on the comedy circuit including at Dangerfield's, The Comic Strip, Stand-Up NY and the Comedy Store in Los Angeles. He has opened for Chris Rock, Jeff Dunham, Weird Al Yankovic and Beatlemania. Joe was a writer on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and named "Best Area Comedian" in northeastern Pennsylvania. Joe's comedy is designed for mature audiences.

All events are free and open to the public. Some venues offer cash bars and dining options.

Brady Carnahan, founder of Absolutely! Theatre and Fundraising, noted, "Fringe is an international movement to bring various forms of art and theatre to the public. We are lucky to have brought these unique talents to Lock Haven. This year offers a strong line-up for all tastes including rock, blues, ukulele, guitar, poetry, spoken word and comedy. Plus, it's free admission. We waive cover fees so the public can attend. We're also fortunate to have venues willing to host the Fringe. We want everyone to support them."
