WoodmenLife holds awards banquet

HOWARD -- WoodmenLife Chapter 691 held a Fall Awards Banquet at the Nittany Valley Fire Hall in Lamar on Oct. 8, 2022.
More than 70 chapter members attended the banquet and enjoyed a delicious meal provided by the fire company volunteers.
Chapter President Michael Frank welcomed the members and Dave Benner gave the invocation before the meal.
After the meal, a poem, "Around the Corner" was read and a bell was tolled as each of the deceased Chapter 691 members names were read by Susan Irwin. There were 31 names of those who have passed away since the last banquet was held in 2018.
WoodmenLife Chapter 691 officers were introduced. Those officers are President Michael Frank, Vice President Ron Glossner, Secretary Tessa Irvin and Treasurer Betty Wetzel. The trustees are Misty Frank and Emma Butler.
Chapter 691 was pleased to recognize and present the 100% Woodmen Family awards to two families this year. Being a 100% Woodmen Family means that each person in the family is covered by a life insurance policy. Joseph and Kaitlin Zimmerman were the first family mentioned and then Scott and Colleen Strouse and their son, Ford, were also recognized.
Mary Hanley and Susan Lindsey were both honored and received their 25 year pins at the banquet this year.
Larry Butler, who has been the WoodmenLife agent in our area for some 35 years or more, thanked everyone for attending the banquet. Larry also thanked all of the individuals and families who have allowed him into their homes (and hearts) during his time as a Woodmen representative. Butler, now 75, officially retired in June, 2022. Butler announced his (first) retirement when he turned 65, but his Woodmen superiors asked him to stay on until they could find his replacement. Needless to say, he stuck around another nine years before officially cleaning out his office desk earlier this summer. Butler certainly believes in the products he sells, having been a WoodmenLife policyholder since the age of 17.
Chapter 691 members also brought donations of dog and cat care items that were being donated to the local SPCA.
