STATE COLLEGE -- A State College-based company is playing a key role in addressing one of the most urgent challenges facing U.S. water infrastructure: the massive loss of treated drinking water due to aging systems and undetected leaks.
Fluid Conservation Systems (FCS) has partnered with Core & Main, a leading national distributor of water infrastructure products, to expand access to FCS's advanced leak detection and pressure monitoring technologies. These tools are designed to help utilities identify and fix leaks early -- before they result in major water loss, service disruptions or costly repairs.
The scale of the issue is significant: U.S. utilities lose an estimated 6.75 billion gallons of treated water every day, costing more than $6.4 billion annually. This partnership allows FCS to take its technologies to more communities nationwide -- supporting smarter, more sustainable water management at a time when infrastructure resilience is a growing concern.
Fluid Conservation Systems (FCS), a leader in acoustic leak detection and pressure monitoring technologies, is proud to announce a partnership with Core & Main, one of the nation's largest specialized distributors of water, wastewater, storm drainage and fire protection products and related services.
Built on the foundation of more than 100 legacy companies, Core & Main provides the essential products and expertise needed to support the construction, repair and maintenance of municipal water infrastructure -- critical components for population growth, economic development and long-term sustainability.
This partnership comes at a pivotal moment. Across the United States, water utilities lose an estimated 6.75 billion gallons of treated drinking water every day -- the result of aging infrastructure, leaks, meter errors and unbilled consumption. Known as non-revenue water (NRW), these losses cost utilities approximately $6.4 billion annually. With over 2.2 million miles of water mains nationwide, nearly 33.3 trillion gallons of water are lost each year, resulting in more than $187 billion in lost revenue.
Together, FCS and Core & Main will provide utilities with the tools and support needed to combat these challenges using proven, scalable technology.
FCS's solutions include American-made technologies that enable utilities to proactively identify, locate and repair system leaks:
-- PermaNET SU: The three-time Environmental Award-winning, Made in America, acoustic data logger offering 24/7 leak monitoring and real-time alerts.
-- Tri-Corr Correlator: A high-precision correlator designed to accurately pinpoint, within 0.1 foot, underground leaks across complex systems.
-- S30 Analog Ground Microphone: A high-sensitivity, Made in America, microphone used by utility crews to detect leak noise in the field with greater clarity.
"Both companies are committed to helping municipalities protect their infrastructure and reduce water loss. We look forward to working together to make a measurable impact on non-revenue water levels nationwide," said Beth Powell, President of Fluid Conservation Systems. "With Core & Main's national reach and our technology, utilities have a clear path toward smarter, more sustainable water management."
"At Core & Main, we are dedicated to empowering our customers with the latest advancements in water management," said John Cataldi, Senior Sales Manager of Smart Utility Solutions for Core & Main. "FCS has been a great addition to our CORE+ portfolio, expanding our suite of smart utility solutions that enhance operational efficiency.
By combining FCS's innovation with Core & Main's deep customer relationships and trusted distribution network, this partnership ensures utilities across the country have access to best-in-class solutions for reducing water loss and improving system performance.
