FLEMINGTON -- After three years of axe throwing, pool tournaments, family entertainment and community events, The Golden Axe has announced it will close its doors at the end of 2026.

The business shared the news in a heartfelt social media announcement on Oct. 29, explaining that the decision was not an easy one and came after considerable thought.

"With heavy hearts we share that, unfortunately, The Golden Axe will be closing its doors at the end of this year," the announcement stated.

The owners said several factors contributed to the decision, emphasizing that it was not the result of one specific issue.

As the business prepares for its final months, customers are encouraged to use any remaining gift certificates and visit with friends and family. All scheduled pool tournaments will continue as planned through the end of the year.

The announcement marks the closing chapter for a business that first opened in downtown Lock Haven in October 2023, bringing a unique entertainment option to the community.

In its announcement, the business expressed gratitude to everyone who supported them, whether they visited to throw axes, played pool, participated in tournaments, attended events or simply stopped in to say hello.

The owners said the past year brought friendships, wonderful people and memories they will always cherish.

"We have made some incredible friends, met so many wonderful people and created memories that we will always cherish," the announcement read.

The owners also acknowledged the role the community played in making the business what it became.

"This past year has been a journey, and we are truly grateful for everyone who has been a part of it."

Although the decision brings an end to The Golden Axe's time in Lock Haven, the owners say the relationships built along the way will remain an important part of their experience.

"Thank you for supporting our small business, for giving us a chance, and for making The Golden Axe more than just a place to have fun. You have made it a community," the announcement stated.
