A dog in need

Ginny Reeder of Lock Haven, a well known volunteer for pets in need, would like Express readers to know about a new need: a Clinton County woman is seeking a mobile cart for her dog. The dog was hit by a car recently, and both its back legs are broken. The owner is not able to buy a cart due to her financial situation. The dog weighs about 63 pounds. Anyone who can pass along an appropriate-sized cart is asked to call Reeder at 570-748-6106.

Farmers Breakfast

A Farmers Breakfast, sponsored by the Porter Township Activity Center at 216 Spring Run Road, Mill Hall, will be held Saturday, Feb. 7 from 6 to 10 a.m. Eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, sausage gravy, biscuits, home fries, fruit and drink will be on the menu. Proceeds from the breakfasts assist with the Center’s mission to help area residents in financial crisis and those who need help with utility costs. The Cancer Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, in Conference Room B of Susque-View.

Breakfast buffet

The Lamar Township Vol. Fire Co., located at 91 Firehouse Road, Salona, offers its breakfast buffet Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries, pancakes, biscuits and sausage gravy.

Outreach luncheon

The monthly Community Outreach Luncheon at Lamar United Methodist Church will be held Thursday, Jan. 15 at noon and will feature pork, sauerkraut and dumplings, along with hot dogs and mashed potatoes. The meal is free.

Community center

The public is invited to a Beech Creek-Blanchard Community Center meeting on Jan. 12 beginning at 7 p.m. The center, which has been struggling financially, recently selected a new board, who will be sworn in at the upcoming meeting. The public’s input is vital to the center’s success going forward. Save the planet

Wayne Township Landfill is helping the planet. The landfill can now recycle small items made of No. 1 through No. 7 plastics. Feel free to recycle your small plastic throw-aways, as long as they are no larger than a gallon jug. This means no chairs or laundry baskets. Also, plastic toys and motor oil bottles cannot be recycled.

Library date amended

The Ross Library at 232 W. Main St., Lock Haven, will not reopen until Monday, Jan. 5, with normal hours of operation. An incorrect date was previously announced.

Dinner Ride

Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 will be the 12th Annual Best Line Powersports/Snow Shoe Rails to Trails Winter Dinner Ride. Ride your ATV to the Moshannon Community Center for a meal, from 11:30 a.m. until gone. The meal includes roast beef, mashed potatoes, noodles, corn, beverage and desserts. Take-outs are available.
