Edwin Binney, working with his wife, Alice Stead Binney, came up with their famous Crayola brand of crayons. Alice came up with the name Crayola by combining the French word for chalk, craie, with the first part of oleaginous, the oily paraffin wax used to make the crayon.
The 40&8 Voiture local 903 Clinton County will dispose of unserviceable flags at a ceremony at 6 p.m. June 10 at the lodge grounds located at 1098 Renovo Road, Mill Hall. Social distancing will be practiced and the Jersey Shore Honor Guard will participate. The club requests all flags for disposal be dropped off by noon on June 9. The 40&8 is a military service club which draws its origin from WW I veterans. The 40&8 supports child welfare, nurses training scholarships, special Olympics, POW/MIA programs and youth sports.

Pine Creek Twp. extends tax
The Pine Creek Township supervisors have extended the due date for real estate taxes. Residents who pay their tax by Aug. 31, 2020 will be prescribed a 2 percent discount. All others must pay their tax by Dec. 31, 2020. No late fees or penalties will be included in the payment for this year.
The City of Lock Haven is encouraging city residents to take a 14 question survey. The data collected will be used to determine what projects should be included in the 2020 Comprehensive Plan update. The survey can be found at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Lock-Haven-Survey
