Stores are filled with costumes, masks, decorations, candy and other goodies for door-to-door visitors. Yards and houses are decked out with pumpkins, corn stalks, bales of hay, ghosts and goblins hanging from trees.
Although COVID-19 has caused a lot of changes since it invaded our country almost a year ago, some things never change … and Halloween seems to be one of them.
Many municipalities and organizations have scheduled special events and trick and treat hours for local youngsters, all the while keeping rules and regulations in mind to protect and keep children and others involved safe.
Of course, the final decision will be made by parents who will choose whether to allow their children to participate in these events or not and how they may choose to protect them.
The following Halloween activities have been reported to The Express:
HAUNTED WALKING TOURS
-- The Lock Haven Paranormal Seekers will host Haunted Walking Tours on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. and also Oct. 30 at 11 p.m. from the Ross Library. The one-hour tours will feature stories and locations each evening. Bring a flashlight. Cost is $5. Pre-pay and pre-registration required. OLD SCHOOL FALLOWEEN
-- Children come dressed up, bring your goodie bag and trick or treat among the vendors at the Old School Market in Salona from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. The public is welcome to set up for Trunk or Treat in the back parking lot. Adults can sign up for the free door prize -- a basket full of goodies donated by vendors. NIGHT AT THE HEISEY HOUSE MUSEUM
-- Starting at the Poorman Gallery, 352 E. Water St., Lock Haven, from 8-9:30 p.m. with tours starting every 30 minutes on Oct. 30. Take a guided candlelight tour for adults, sharing Historical Spooktacular Stories from some of the Museum's long departed souls. Cost is $5. Six people per tour. Purchase tickets at www.clintonpa.history.org (limited number of tickets also at the door.)
HAVEN PLACE
HALLOWEEN PARADE
-- Haven Place, 24 Cree Drive, Lock Haven, 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 30. All family members and the community invited. Costumes encouraged. Treat bags given out to those participating in the walk-through parade. Social distancing and face coverings required.
HALLOWEEN NIGHT HIKE
On Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.,Tiadaghton State Forestry Office, 10 Lower Pine Bottom Road,Waterville. Venture into the state forest for this easy, two-mile, family-friendly hike after dark to discover the sights and sounds of the forest at night. Dress for the weather. TRUNK OR TREAT
-- Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, 217 Main St., Beech Creek, Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m. COVID-19 precautions will be in place.
-- Big Woods Bible Church, 241 Hanna St., Lock Haven. 1-3 p.m. Oct. 31. Candy, prizes and raffles. Come dressed in costume. Free. Public invited. 570-893-8274.
-- Grace Fellowship Church, 19 W. Ridge St., Avis, Saturday, Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. You can stay or drive-thru. There will be games, candy and a chance to win prizes.
-- Greater Renovo Heritage Park, 530 Erie Ave., Renovo, 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31. Come in costume and walk from trunk to trunk to receive candy and treats.
-- Lock Haven Salvation Army, 119 E. Church St., Lock Haven, 4-6 p.m. Oct. 30. Treats for the kids and a free event open to the community. COVID-19 precautions to be followed.
-- Mill Hall Fire Department trunk or treat on Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the fire station.
-- Murray Motors, 910 Bellefonte Ave., Lock Haven. Drive Through Trunk or Treat, 5-7 p.m. Oct. 30. Collect treats and enter win cool prizes. Social distancing guidelines, masks required.
-- Woolrich Community UM Church will be having their annual Trunk or Treat Halloween night Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. as a drive-thru only Grab-N-Go in the church parking lot off Park Avenue in Woolrich. Please follow directions for entering and exiting the parking lot for a safe, fun evening. This is open to everyone to come to gather treats with your little ghosts and goblins.
-- YMCA Trunk or Treat, 145 E. Water St., Lock Haven, 6-7 p.m. Oct. 30. Bring the family for a spooktacular evening of truck or treat at the Y's Vesper Street parking lot. Come in costume. Candy and games for the kids. Social distancing and other measures taken for a safe event. Free and open to the entire community.
