LOCK HAVEN -- Residents who would like to receive a COVID-19 test can do so without leaving the county beginning Thursday.
A drive-up/walk-in testing site will be set up at the Castanea Picnic Grounds from Dec. 10 to 14 with hours set for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
The site is brought through efforts by the Clinton County Community Emergency Coalition and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
The DOH previously expanded its contract with AMI Expenditionary Healthcare to provide more regional testing across the state.
The testing will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis with the site offering up to 450 tests each day. The mid-nasal passage swab PCR tests will be used. Test results will be available two to seven days after testing.
The program is free to all patients ages three and up and symptoms are not required to be tested. No appointment is necessary and the public is encouraged to bring their photo ID and an insurance card to the visit. However, those who don't have insurance can still receive a test.
For minors, parents or guardians must complete a HIPPA form and have the child's social security number available.
Andrew Kremser, director of the county's department of emergency services, is encouraging residents to be patient with the process and registration as AMI staff get through paperwork and testing.
To access the site, residents should enter the picnic grounds by taking Hanna Street onto Lower Creek Road in order to prevent a back up of traffic on Water Street or Island Route. Cars will then exit the grounds onto Bald Eagle Street and past the Clinton County Piper Building.
The department of emergency services will be coordinating with local law enforcement to navigate traffic control and logistics.
