Colin Bechtel earns Eagle Scout Award

STATE COLLEGE — Colin Bechtel, son of Curtis and Katie Bechtel, of State College, recently received his Eagle Scout Award, at a ceremony at the American Legion Post 245 in State College. Colin is a member of State College Boy Scout Troop 245, under the leadership of Scoutmaster Donald Watkins.

Colin has volunteered over 250 service hours to help others in his community. In addition, he has served his Troop as Guide, Patrol Leader, and Senior Patrol Leader, as well as earning 28 Merit Badges.

For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Colin planned and implemented the installation of a bike rack, and landscaping of an entry area, for Our Lady of Victory Catholic School in State College, Pa.

Presenters included Bryan Sampsel of the Centre County Sheriff’s Office; Tom Fonda, Advancement Chairman for the JVC BSA Nittany Mountain District; Rich Seifert, American Legion 245 Post Commander; Lewis Watts, American Legion 245 Charter Organization Representative; Bob Johnson of the Nittany Leathernecks; Lew Lazarow, President of Rotary Club of State College; Kerry Benninghoff, PA State Representative; Chris Walker of State College Elks Lodge #1600.
