FOOD BANK
The Howard Area Lions Club wants to thank everyone for their donations of food and money over the past year that enabled the Food Bank to stay open and able to provide food aid to many local families who were in need.
Howard Area Lions Food Bank distribution dates will be on Jan. 4 for residents of Centre County in the club's servicing area and on Jan. 18 for residents who live in the Beech Creek area of Clinton County. Food bank hours are from noon to 3 p.m. and those coming should stay in your vehicle and wear a mask. Please be sure to bring your empty boxes back each month so that they can be refilled for the next distribution.
Howard Area Lions Club members look forward to providing their services to those in need locally during the upcoming year. Hopefully with the virus vaccine becoming available and people continuing to be cautious to avoid the spread of the virus the club can resume their fundraising events and meetings.

AMBULANCE MEMBERSHIP
It's time to renew your Beech Creek-Blanchard Ambulance membership for another year.
Applications were mailed to local residents in the area, but if you didn't receive one and would like to get a membership you may drop by the Beech Creek fire station on Jan. 2, 4 and 9 to get a membership application. You may drop your completed application and payment off at the fire hall on these dates from 8 a.m. until noon as well.
The cost of an ambulance membership for the year for an individual is $35 and the cost for a couple is $70. A family membership will be $75.
For more information about the ambulance membership or if you might be interested in joining the BC-B Fire Company you may call the fire station at 570-962-2382.
CALENDARS ON SALE
Howard Parks and Rec Committee has their 2021 calendars on sale now. The calendars are $10 each and can be obtained outside the Howard post office on Saturday mornings or by calling Debbie Simoncek at 814-625-0054.
The calendar pages are of photographs taken by various people in and around Howard. Several photos feature beautiful scenes captured at Bald Eagle State Park.
Proceeds from the calendars are used to maintain and decorate the parks in town and hopefully the committee will again be able to sell at least 100 calendars to use for mulch, paint and other items needed to keep the parks looking nice for everyone to enjoy.
KEEP YOUR TICKET
Tickets for the Gun Drawing at Walker Township Fire Company are on sale now.
The gun drawing was planned for Sept. 12, 2020 and the tickets have that date printed on them, but since the event had to be postponed because of the pandemic's gathering restrictions you should keep your ticket as it will be honored for the new date which will hopefully be held this spring. The new event date will be announced soon and will be held regardless of whether it is open to the public or virtual depending on the virus conditions. Tickets are $10 each and are still available from any fire company member.
Please help to support your local fire department as each has been hit hard during this pandemic with their lack of fundraisers and hall rentals that provided funds to allow each fire company to provide their services to our communities.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
I hope all of my readers have a Happy New Year and that you all stay healthy and safe throughout the year. I'm glad to see 2020 come to a close and I hope and pray that 2021 will be bright for everyone. Hopefully the pandemic will be ending soon and that we can all get back to doing lots of the things we like to do.
