EASTER EGGS
Valerie Wynn will be at the Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek on March 20 selling her homemade Easter eggs beginning at 9 a.m. Valerie has many flavors of eggs that she makes.Valerie will be making a donation of her sales to the Friendship Community Center.
Please wear a mask and practice social distancing while shopping for your Easter eggs.
SOUP SALE
Howard United Methodist Church will host a Take Out Soup Sale on Thursday, March 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church.
The soup flavors are vegetable beef, ham and bean, chicken corn and chicken noodle soup and are sold in freezable quart containers for $7 each.
Soup pre-orders should be called in to Patti Long at 814-625-2182 and you pay when you pick up the soup. You should leave your name, phone number, flavors of soup and the number of quarts you want for Patti and your order will be ready for you to pick up.
All proceeds from the soup sale will benefit those in need in the community.
Masks and social distancing is required during the soup pick-up time.
WINTER FESTIVAL
The Howard Cub Scouts and Boy Scout Troop 353 are planning a Winter Festival on March 13. The festival is free and will be held at the park beside the post office in Howard beginning at 11 a.m. and concluding at 7 p.m.
There will be food trucks, more than 30 vendors, games for the kids, raffles and entertainment for all ages. There will be a chili cook-off and cake auction.
The chili cook-off is a friendly competition between area churches with the chefs who are already signed up and very excited to be helping to support the scouts. The scouts and their fathers will each bake a cake that will be auctioned off during the festival. There are 20 cub scouts and 6 boy scouts so you'll have a good selection of cakes to bid on and buy one (or two).
Woodraptor Bobby Gummo will also be there and is donating a carved bench for one of the raffles.
The entertainment schedule for the free event will be as follows:
--11 a.m. Jay Zimmerman will have music.
--Noon -- Historian Matt Maris will give a talk about Howard's history.
--1 p.m. Paul Confer will speak on ice fishing.
--At 2:30 Mark Ternent from the PA Game Commission will speak.
--4 p.m. Jordan Corman will address snow boarding.
--At 4:30 the Mennonite Choir will perform.
--At 5:30 there will be a Father-Scout Cake Bake Auction.
--At 6 p.m. the chili cook-off winners will be crowned and the raffles winners will be drawn and prizes awarded.

Children are always encouraged to give the scouting experience a try. Boys and girls in grades K-5 can join cub scouts that is under the leadership of Cubmaster Tom Long. Boys grades 6 and up can join the Scout Troop that is under the direction of Scoutmaster Jon Long.
VENDORS WANTED
Vendors are wanted for the indoor Titan Market that is held on Friday's and Saturday's at the old Cerro Metal Plant located at 2042 Axemann Road in Bellefonte. The market is open year-round on Friday and Saturday's from 9-4. Vendors with wares of produce, butchered meats, dairy products, bulk foods, crafts and other specialties are urged to give the market a try by calling 814-404-7422. Many vendors are offering a senior citizen discount for shoppers each Friday.
On March 12 and 13 there will be a Spring Fling & Easter Things craft show at Titan Market so you'll be able to find some unique decorations or you can be a vendor and sell your spring and Easter items at the market. Call or visit titanmarketbellefonte.com for more info.
STUMP CARVING
Liberty Township Sportsmen's Association had some large trees taken down near the clubhouse recently and club members think it would be a nice touch if the tree stumps left could be carved and enjoyed by those visiting the club.
Bids are being accepted for chain saw carving of the tree stumps.If there are any wood carvers or if you know of any wood carvers who may be interested please pass the word to have the carvers make contact with Butch at 814-280-3015 or you may send an email to ltsportsmen@gmail.com for more info.
Liberty Township Sportsmen's Association will hold their next meeting on Sunday, March 21, at 2 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend this meeting. The clubhouse is located at 1140 Marsh Creek Road, Howard, Pa.
