Thank you to Howard Parks and Recreation Committee for sponsoring the Easter Egg Hunt. A special thank you to Anita for organizing the event each year and to all those who donated eggs and treats for the event. Close to 100 children enjoyed the egg hunt this year.
POT PIE SALE
Bald Eagle Valley Community Church will have a ham or chicken pot pie sale on Monday, April 12. The meal includes bread and will be $8 per quart. Pickup of the pot pie will begin at 4 p.m. and will last until all the pot pie is gone.
Pre-ordering your pot pie is recommended and can be done by calling Janette at 814-883-0893. Leave your name, phone number, state whether you want the ham pot pie or chicken pot pie and the number of quarts you'd like.
When picking up your order it will be drive-thru service in the church parking lot. Please wear your mask.
The Bald Eagle Valley Community Church is located at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, PA 16823. The church is directly behind the Wingate Sheetz Store.
GRANGE SOUP SALE
Logan Grange #109 is having a Spring Soup Sale on Saturday, April 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until sold out). Pre-orders can be handled by calling 814-404-1521 or sending an email to logangrange109@gmail.com. Someone will get back to you on pre-orders to take your pay pal payment.
Drive thru orders will also be accepted tomorrow at the Logan Grange Hall at 122 North Main Street in Pleasant Gap, until the quarts would be sold out.

YARD SALE DAYS
The Howard Town-wide Yard Sale Days will be on May 7 and 8, 2021.
Town-wide Yard Sales in Beech Creek and Blanchard will be on June 4 and 5. If anyone wants to reserve a table indoors at the Friendship Community Center for the yard sale days in Beech Creek you may contact Sandy at 570-962-2397.
LIONS NEWS
Howard Area Lions Food Bank will be open on April 19 for those residents of the Beech Creek area in Clinton County and those Centre County residents who missed their distribution earlier this month. Food bank pickup hours are from noon to 3 p.m. at the former Beech Creek Elementary School.
Please remain in your vehicle and wear a mask while the food bank workers assist you.
Please bring your box back each month so that the food bank can reuse the boxes for their distribution dates. You may contact Food Bank Chairman Ron Davy at 570-962-2407 for more info on the food bank program.
The Lions will be cleaning up our local roadways on April 17. Lions and any other volunteers should meet at the Howard VFW at 8 a.m. The rain date will be on April 24.
BLOOD DRIVE CORRECTION
Howard Area Lions will host a Blood Drive at the Howard Fire Hall on April 14 from 1:30 to 7 p.m. I was given the wrong date of April 21 but thanks to some observant blood drive donors and workers who cleared up this month's blood drive date as being on April 14.
Donors of all blood types are desperately needed and you are encouraged to become a regular donor at the Howard Blood Drives.
Howard Area Lions will provide transportation to and from the blood drives if needed and those helping at the drives will make sure you are fed well after your blood donation.
Howard Area Lions and the Howard Fire Company have been partnering with the American Red Cross to hold the drives in Howard for more than 25 years now. The Lions Club would like to see some new donors who will help them reach their goal of collecting 50 pints each drive.
There are a lot of healthy, strong members of the community who would make excellent donors and it only takes about one hour of your time from start to finish at the blood drive. The Lions would like to encourage more people who are between the ages of 17-55 years of age who would be willing to support the bi-monthly drives in Howard.
SPRING REMINDERS
Residents are reminded that since spring is here and more people will be outdoors enjoying their neighborhoods there are some "common courtesy rules" that should be followed by everyone:
--If your dog is outdoors it needs to be on a leash and you need to clean up after it.
--Please inspect your sidewalks for winter wear that may need to be fixed now that nicer weather is coming. Cracks and uneven portions of the sidewalks should be leveled to prevent others from tripping. If there are limbs or bushes that encroach on the sidewalk that may be a hindrance to pedestrians then they need to be cut back to prevent injuries.
-- No open burning should be done. People have their windows open to let the fresh air in and are hanging clothes on the line so refrain from burning, especially during daytime hours. Sticks and leaves can be hauled to the composting sites and the garbage man will take many things if bagged or bundled nicely.
--Recycling bins are for recyclable materials, not household garbage or rubbish.
--Dumpsters are for private use of individuals and businesses. Do not put your garbage in someone else's dumpster.
--Don't park your vehicles on the sidewalk or leave your bicycles on the sidewalks. People need room to walk on the sidewalks so they don't have to get out into the street to get by.
--If you put up signs advertising your yard sale you need to take the signs down once the sale is over so that the signs do not litter the community.
