YARD SALE DAYS

I have friends who are sending me emails about community yard sales so I’m happy to add them to my Howard Happenings article. Keep in mind that if you put up yard sale signs you should go back and take them down, too.

Snydertown residents will be having their Yard Sale Days today and tomorrow. Rote Community Yard Sale Days will be on April 23 and 24. Howard Town-wide Yard Sale Days will be on May 7 and 8. Milesburg Yard Sale Days will be on May 14 and May 15. Milesburg Museum will also be open. Town-wide Yard Sales in Beech Creek and Blanchard will be on June 4 and 5. If anyone wants to reserve a table indoors at the Friendship Community Center for the yard sale days in Beech Creek you may contact Sandy at 570-962-2397.

CHEER CLUB

The Senior Cheer Club will meet on Thursday, May 6, at noon at the Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek. Club President Larry Butler invites anyone age 50 or older to come for food and fellowship, Bring a covered dish to share for the noon luncheon and a wrapped item for the Bingo games.

Senior Cheer Club meets the first Thursday of each month at noon. For more info about the Beech Creek-Blanchard Senior Cheer Club give Larry a call at 570-962-2848.

LIONS NEWS

The Lions will be cleaning up our local roadways on Saturday, April 17. Lions and any other volunteers should meet at the Howard VFW at 8 a.m. The rain date will be on April 24.

Howard Area Lions Food Bank will be open on April 19 for those residents of the Beech Creek area in Clinton County and those residents of Centre County who missed their distribution date earlier this month. Food bank pickup hours are from noon to 3 p.m. at the former Beech Creek Elementary School.

Please remain in your vehicle and wear a mask while the food bank workers assist you.

Please be sure to bring your box back each month so that the food bank can reuse the boxes for their distribution dates. You may contact Food Bank Chairman Ron Davy at 570-962-2407 for more info on the food bank program.

To become a Lion: If you have a desire to serve others and participate in club activities that benefit our communities then please ask a Lion for a membership application.

SPRING

BAZAAR

Howard VFW Club will host an outdoor Spring Bazaar on Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The Beech Creek Trailblazers 4-H Club will be selling food at the bazaar so be sure to support the 4-H kids while attending.

LOCK YOUR DOORS

There have been some suspious activities and thefts in Howard recently and residents are reminded to lock your house, garage and vehicle doors. If you get up during the night look out your windows to see if there is anything suspicious happening and alert your neighbors if need be.

Band together to create a “neighborhood watch” to look out for each other. Several people have cameras installed that will certainly be helpful if break-ins do happen so inform your neighbors and/or the police if necessary.
