Centre Gives smashes records, raises $2,238,995

STATE COLLEGE — For the 10th consecutive year, the Centre County community has beat it’s previous Centre Gives records by raising $2,238,995 via 16,424 total gifts in 36 hours.

“We couldn’t imagine any better way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Centre Gives than by continuing our streak and breaking all previous records. The organizations who benefit from Centre Gives have had a long and difficult year, dealing with continued pandemic-related repercussions. We are so proud of our supportive community for stepping up and providing them with such a hopeful outcome,” said Molly Kunkel, Executive Director of Centre Foundation.

During Centre Gives, gifts grow due to the stretch pools totaling $300,000 provided by Centre Foundation and the Hamer Foundation, along with $40,000 in prizes.

Prizes of $1,000 were awarded to the top five large and small organizations with the most unique donors for the entirety of Centre Gives.

Countdown to #CentreGives prizes of $250 each were randomly awarded to organizations that participated in Facebook challenges before the start of Centre Gives.

Countdown Prize winners include Pets Come First, Boalsburg Heritage Musuem, Centre County Library and Historical Museum and Pixie Dust Wishes.

The organization that received the very first donation during Centre Gives 2021 was selected to win a $250 prize.

First Gift Prize winner is Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy.

Organizations that benefit from endowment funds at Centre Foundation had an opportunity to win an additional $500.They are Mid-State Liberacy Council, State College Food Bank, Centre County Housting and Land Trust, ace Ltheran Preschool and Kindergarten.

One organization participating in its first Centre Gives was randomly selected to win $250. The New Participant Prize winner is Soroptimist International of Centre County.

One organization that has participated in every Centre Gives campaign since 2012 was randomly selected for a $250 prize. The 10-Year Pro winner is Centre Volunteers in Medicine.

In honor of Centre Foundation’s 40th anniversary, the organization receiving the 1,981st gift during Centre Gives 2021 was selected to win $250.The winner is State College SDA Diaper Bank.

The organization which received the donation pushing Centre Gives past the $1 million mark was selected to win a $250 prize. Million Maker Prize winner is Hands on Therapeutic Riding Program.

In honor of Centre Gives’ 10 year anniversary, the organization that received the donation closest to 20:12 (8:12 PM) on May 11 was selected to win a $250 prize. The 10 Years of Centre Gives winner is Centre Helps.

Magic Minute prizes of $100 each were awarded to the first 20 organizations that received a gift during the exact minute of 3:33 PM.

Magic Minute Prize winners include State College Food Bank, Art Allilance of Central Pennslvania, Tudek Park, Mount Nittany Conservance, State College Area Roller Derby, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Center County, Acres Projest, SCASD Education Foundation, Appalachian Food Works, Bob Perks Cancer Assistance Fund, Downtown Bellefonte Inc., Central PA 4th Fest, The Arc of Centre County, Pixie Dust Wishes, Ten Thousand Villages, Mach One Slalom Team, Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Nittany Performing Arts Center,Schow Library Foundation,Centeral Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts.

At 11:30 a.m. on May 12, two large and two small organizations were randomly selected to win $250 each. Winners are A Soldier’s Hands, Wildlife for Everyone Foundation, Skills Foundation, Centre Region Parks and Rec.

At 4:30 p.m. on May 12, one organization from each of the following regions was randomly selected for a $250 prize: Bald Eagle, Bellefonte, Penns Valley, Philipsburg, and State College. Winners were The Crooked House, Bald Eagle; Downtown Bellefonte, Bellefonte; HOPE Fund, Penns Valley; Philipsburg Revitalization Corp., Philipsburg, and Community Cafe at St. Andrews, State College.

Every gift of $100 or more given between 10 p.m.-midnight on May 11 was entered into a random drawing for their organization to win an additional $500 prize.

Night Owl Prize winners are ACRES Project and CentrePeace Inc.

Every gift of $100 or more given between 5-7 a.m on May 12 was entered into a random drawing for their organization to win an additional $500 prize. Rise and Shine Prize winners are Pets Come First and Out of the Cold: Centre County.

At the conclusion of Centre Gives, 15 Last Chance Prizes of $250 each were awarded to organizations that had not previously won a prize.

Last Chance Prize winners include Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association, Central PA Theatre and Dance Fest, Centre Crest Auxiliary, Friends of Bellefonte Little House, Friends of Pennsylvania Military Museum, Krislund, MidPenn Legal Services, O-An Zendo Meditation Center, Penns Valley Conservation Association, Ridgelines Languagae Arts, State College Music Boosters, Pennsylvania Mental Health Initiative, Salvation Army of Centre County, Roland Curtin Foundation, Youth Service Bureau.

Since Centre Gives began in 2012, over $12.5 million has been invested into the local nonprofit network, supporting organizations in the areas of arts, animals, education, environment, and health and social services.
