There are fun and educational programs coming to the Ross Library throughout December. You can have a haunted tour plus a ghost hunt, courtesy of the Ross Library! Paranormal investigator Lou Bernard will give tours of the library, detailing some of the haunted locations. Afterward, participants will receive a lesson in paranormal investigation, and hold an investigation in a haunted area of the library!
The event will be $10 per person, and money will be donated to benefit the Ross Library. Must be pre-registered and pre-paid. Masks required. Each night will take about two hours. To register, contact Lou Bernard at 570-748-3321 or ross13@rosslibrary.org.
Though the weather outside is frightful, you can still make a snowman indoors! At 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 6, the Ross Library will hold a lesson on how to make decorative snowmen from tea light candles. This crafting session will be held in the Sloan Room on the second floor of the library. Supplies will be provided.
On Monday, Dec. 13 at 6 p.m., staff member Lou Bernard will present a lesson on cold weather survival. Topics will include tips and procedures such as proper clothing and equipment, preparation, shelter, fire, and maximization of heat. Participants will make their own firestarter kits.
A local history class is being held at the Ross Library. Until May 2022, historian Lou Bernard will hold monthly talks about Clinton County's history, covering a different area each month. The program will be held Dec. 9 at 7 p.m., with a lesson on the history of Wayne Township, and will continue at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month. January's class is Keating Township, and February's is Sugar Valley.
The library is offering free take-home basic origami kits with a holiday theme to anyone who is interested. Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper into specific shapes. Each kit contains simple instructions to make four holiday-themed crafts, plus ten pieces of origami paper to work with. Kits can be picked up at the main desk in the library.
Until further notice, due to COVID protocols, masks are required at ALL library events.
