FLEMINGTON --Flemington Borough has received $70,000 in DCNR grant funding to improve its park.
"Flemington received $70,000 through Small Communities and Small Projects with DCNR. The borough will contribute $40,000 with a combination of donations, in-kind services and in-house labor," borough secretary, Charity Walizer Etters said.
The plans for Grove Park, which are slated to begin in 2023, involve various improvements. They include:
-- Passive recreation areas and the central seating areas seeing installation of adult swings, park benches and a concrete weatherproof table as well as brick paving and border curbs.
-- The restrooms are receiving improvements to their electrical components such as conduits, LED lights and motion switches being the highlights. Dog park improvements cover an installation of agility dog toys and concrete sidewalks.
-- There will also be landscaping and new trees planted including: American Dogwoods, Redbuds and dwarf conifers. One of these new landscaping ventures features an entirely new section of the park, the rain garden.
