STATE COLLEGE -- The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau (HVAB) and the Chamber of Business & Industry of Centre County (CBICC), on behalf of the organizations' Happy Valley Agventures initiative, have established a GoFundMe campaign for a Potter Township Amish family who lost loved ones in two separate farming accidents this year.
Happy Valley Agventures is providing $5,000 in seed money for the campaign to assist Esther Beiler and her children. Esther's husband, Andy, and two teenage sons died in a tragic farming accident on Sept. 21, 2022. Six months earlier, another teenage son also died in an accident on the family farm. Esther has six remaining children, four of whom are still at home.
"Our local Amish culture is a unique and important part of the fabric of Centre County's rich agricultural heritage," said HVAB President and CEO Fritz Smith. "Our organizations' goal in launching Happy Valley Agventures was to support our agricultural community by inviting people to enjoy what we grow, raise, produce and craft. We felt a GoFundMe campaign was an appropriate way to further lift up a farming family facing such a tremendous loss."
The HVAB and CBICC are encouraging members of the community to also contribute to this worthwhile cause and help reach a fundraising goal of $20,000.
"This unimaginable tragedy has touched the entire community," said CBICC President and CEO Greg Scott. "We value our Amish neighbors and wish to extend more than just our sympathies to Esther and her children in this difficult time of need."
