Ross Library announces April events
LOCK HAVEN -- Are you looking for work? Business professional Angad Lamba will be holding two classes at the Ross Library to help you for Money Smart Week.
On April 18 at 6 p.m., Lamba will teach "How To Look Better on Paper," a guide to writing resumes. On April 20 at 6 p.m., Lamba will hold "How To Get Hired And For More Money," a guide to interviewing for a job.
April 22 is Earth Day. For the month of April, the Ross Library will be handing out kits to make seed bombs! The kits will be free and available at the main desk.
On the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m., join the Ross Library for Adult Storytime. Each month, a volunteer will read a different short story to adults 18 and up. Snacks will be provided. The next session will be on April 11.
"Saturday Crafternoons" is a crafting program held on the last Saturday of each month. Each session begins at 12:30 p.m. with a simple craft. On April 29, the craft will be book photo frames. Participants may bring a photo to use.
On the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m., an adult coloring session will be held in the Sloan Room. Participants are welcome to bring their own materials, or use the library's. The next session will be held on April 3.

Covenant Cafe to meet April 4
LOCK HAVEN -- The Covenant Cafe, an early stage Alzheimer's activity group, will meet Tuesday, April 4, from 1-3 p.m. at United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. The group will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt for children from Infant Development complete with Easter-themed games and refreshments during the first hour.
Then from 2 to 3 p.m. Brian Budjanec, Environmental Education Specialist and Park Educator at Kettle Creek and Ole Bull State Park Complex along with co-worker Katelyn Smith, who is also a Covenant Cafe volunteer, will do a presentation on wild teas and jellies. The public is invited to attend the session where they will learn how to make teas from trees and jellies from nature. Participants will also learn how to pick wild plants and harvest them and then will have an opportunity to sample them. Those in attendance are asked to bring their own mug for sampling.
The Covenant Cafe is a joint venture between the Outreach and Witness Committee of Covenant United Methodist, the Alzheimer's Support Group and the Alzheimer's Association. Participants in this group are given an opportunity to be involved in socially and physically stimulating programs which will help them remain as active as possible. Kettle Creek Valley Outdoor Show set for April 15
CROSS FORK -- Ring in spring at the Kettle Creek Valley Outdoor and Craft Show to be held Saturday, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kettle Creek Hose Company in Cross Fork.
Practice those turkey calls and join the callers at the Earl R. Brown Memorial Turkey Calling Contest to be held in conjunction with the show. Registration for the contest is from 9-10:30 a.m. with calling starting at 11 a.m.
The Outdoor Show features local organizations that promote outdoor activities, as well as vendors who feature handmade items and fishing and hunting related items. Breakfast sandwiches and a chicken and biscuits lunch will be available as well as a dessert sale with great homemade baked items.
There will be a bucket raffle with items donated by vendors and local businesses. Entrance fee is $3 per person, kids 12 and under free. For information on the show or vendor spaces, contact Mary Hirst at 814-435-2218.
The Calling Contest is a sanctioned contest. There will be five divisions: Open, Friction, Youth, Amateur and a team contest. Cash prizes will be offered for first, second and third places in each division. For information on the contest, contact Carla Flack at 570-927-2797 or qocg@quietoaks.org.
All proceeds from the show go to the Kettle Creek Hose Company and the Kettle Creek Ambulance Association.
Lock Haven to host 19th Kent's Fest Celebration
LOCK HAVEN -- Commonwealth University-Lock Haven's Department of Exceptionality Programs and Council for Exceptional Children student group will host the 19th annual Kent's Fest celebration on Friday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the East Campus Gymnasium.
The theme for this year's celebration is "Road Trip USA." Classrooms and organizations will create unique performances to personally selected music aligned with the theme.
The event, which has not been held since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, provides a musical talent show for children and adults with disabilities from Clinton, Centre and Lycoming counties. In 2019, more than 450 participants were involved, with more than 500 community members in attendance.
The event is free and open to the public. The event sponsors include the Clinton County Community Foundation, who awarded the event with a $5,000 grant, and the Son's of Italy of Lock Haven, who donated $525. More sponsorship opportunities are available for this year's event.
