Covenant Cafe to meet April 18

LOCK HAVEN -- The Covenant Cafe, an early stage Alzheimer's activity group, will meet Tuesday, April 18, from 1-3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Donna Thomas, Exercise Specialist and Program Coordinator at UPMC Cole in Coudersport, Pa., will be the guest presenter. Donna will lead a session of Chair Yoga geared to seniors and especially to those in the early stages of memory loss. She will demonstrate some yoga poses and provide handouts so that participants can practice at home if they choose.

During the second hour, volunteer Carol Poorman will instruct the group in a sand art project. Refreshments will be served.

The Covenant Cafe is a joint venture between the Outreach and Witness Committee of Covenant United Methodist, the Alzheimer's Support Group and the Alzheimer's Association. Participants in this group are given an opportunity to be involved in socially and physically stimulating programs which will help them remain as active as possible.
