Covenant Cafe to meet May 2
LOCK HAVEN — The Covenant Cafe, an early stage Alzheimer’s activity group, will meet Tuesday, May 2 from 1-3 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
The group will be celebrating Cinco de Maya with Mexican themed activities, including a talk by volunteer Candy Gore on the history of the holiday, as well as Mexican culture and heritage. She will also be instructing participants in making both meat-filled and fruit-filled Empanadas.
Volunteer Kitty Oechler will lead the Mexican Hat Dance, complete with a sombrero, and the celebration will end with the traditional pinata and Mexican refreshments.
The Covenant Cafe is a joint venture between the Outreach and Witness Committee of Covenant United Methodist, the Alzheimer’s Support Group and the Alzheimer’s Association. Participants in this group are given an opportunity to be involved in socially and physically stimulating programs which will help them remain as active as possible.
