MARSH CREEK INVITE

Tonight the Marsh Creek BIC Church will be having an outdoor hymn sing and fellowship time at the church pavilion at 7 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs to sit more comfortably during the hymn sing.

Vacation Bible School will be held at the church on June 25-28. A picnic will kick off the start of VBS on Sunday evening at 5:30, but all the other evenings VBS begins at 6:30 p.m. Heavenward Ho is the theme this year. All children (and their parents/drivers) are welcome!

VBS INVITE

Runville United Methodist Church will have Vacation Bible School for local children. The VBS will be held on June 19-23 from 9 a.m. until noon each morning. The VBS will be for ages 3 years through fifth grade. Parents are welcome, too!

LAMAR

CONCERTS

Lamar Lighthouse Camp is having their summer concerts on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m.

On June 18 the singers will be the Victory Trio. The concerts are free to attend, but a love offering is taken during the service. Lamar Lighthouse Campground is located along Route 64 in Lamar. For more info call Lynette at 570-337-0203.

COUNTRY JAM

The Back Porch String Band hosts the Country Jam at the Howard fire hall each month on the fourth Sunday from 1-6 p.m. The only time Country Jam won't be held is during December because of Christmas. The next Country Jam will be held on June 25.

MILLHEIM EVENTS

Millheim yard sales will be June 16-17.

The Millheim Fire Company is having their carnival this weekend. The carnival starts at 6 p.m. with lots of good food, games and raffles. A DJ will provide the music tonight. The kid's tractor pull for ages 3-9 is at 7 p.m. with registration an hour beforehand.

Tomorrow there will be a garden tractor pull at 10 a.m. with registration beforehand. The carnival band is the 'Giants of Science' that will be center stage on Saturday. The annual cake auction begins at 10 p.m.

FOOD

DISTRIBUTION

The Howard United Methodist Church holds food distributions twice a month, the first Thursday and third Friday of the month, beginning at 5 p.m. The next distribution will be this evening, June 16. Remember that you should not start lining up before 4 p.m. The food line will be as follows: Turn onto Spearing Street in Howard and then make a right onto Rothrock. The traffic will be held there until 4:30 p.m., and then you would make a left onto Black Street, followed by a right turn onto Grove Street and proceed to the church. CLASS OF 1967

Joyce Beaty will be hosting the 56th class reunion for LHHS Class of 1967 on June 24 at 2 p.m. The Beaty house is located at 153 Beach Street, Blanchard. The house is located two houses past the Blanchard Church of Christ. Call Joyce at 570-962-3355 for details or directions. The charge will be $5 per person made payable to LHHS Class of 1967 and mailed to Georgette Rupert, 57 Mapes Road, Beech Creek, PA 16822.

YARNELL NEWS

The Yarnell United Methodist Church has their two new benches for people to use when they are at the church or the community center. Donna Chronister spearheaded the collection of plastic bags and shrink wrap to get the benches. Each bench required 500 pounds of plastic and thanks to the congregation and all of the people who saved their plastic for the church to have it recycled and the two new benches made.

No more plastic is needed now, but if your church or organization is interested in collecting plastic to get your own bench(es), we'll help you save the plastic to keep it from going into the landfills.

Jack Miller will be making his famous subs and cheese steaks in August. Last summer Jack and his helpers made the subs which raised more than $2,000 that was used to pay for the heating oil put into the fuel tank for the winter months at the Yarnell Community Center.

The subs will be made on Aug. 2-5 and available for pickup from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. This year the hoagie flavors will be regular, ham, turkey, roast beef and Canadian bacon. Cheese steaks will also be available. Walk-in orders are welcomed, but pre-ordering is best because once the supplies are gone they're not reordering. It's too early for Jack to determine the prices until he sees what the costs of the needed ingredients will be, but I'll let you know closer to the hoagie making days.

Jack is also the rental co-ordinator for the Yarnell Community Center. The former school house building has been updated, has a nice kitchen and counter area and will seat about 100 people. The cost is $75 per day and can be booked by calling Jack at 814-699-0548.
