SUMMER CAMP
Howard Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a summer camp for children the week of July 10-14. Color Competition Summer Camp is for those entering kindergarten up through those who will be entering fifth grade. The summer camp will run each morning from 9-11 a.m. and will be held at West End Park (out past the old Woolrich building, now GP Cabinets) in Howard. BIBLE SCHOOLS
Vacation Bible School will be held at the Marsh Creek BIC Church on June 25-28. A picnic will kick off the start of VBS on Sunday evening at 5:30, but all the other evenings VBS begins at 6:30 p.m. Heavenward Ho is the theme this year. Faith Baptist Church in Blanchard will be having VBS on June 26-30 from 6-8:15 p.m. each evening. Stompers and Chompers (building dino-sized faith in God's Big Plan) is the theme. Children of all ages are invited. Call the church at 570-962-3821 for more info.
LAMAR CONCERTS
Lamar Lighthouse Camp is having their summer concerts on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m.
On June 25 the singers will be The Foresters. On July 2 the concert will be brought by Tru-Vintage. The concerts are free to attend, but a love offering is taken during the service. Lamar Lighthouse Campground is located along Route 64 in Lamar. For more info call Lynette at 570-337-0203.
COUNTRY JAM
The Back Porch String Band hosts the Country Jam at the Howard fire hall each month on the fourth Sunday from 1-6 p.m. The only time Country Jam won't be held is during December because of Christmas. The next Country Jam will be held this Sunday, June 25. Call Connie at 814-625-2724 for band info.
CLASS OF 1967
Joyce Beaty will be hosting the 56th class reunion for LHHS Class of 1967 tomorrow afternoon, June 24, at 2 p.m. The Beaty house is located at 153 Beach Street, Blanchard. The house is located two houses past the Blanchard Church of Christ. Call Joyce at 570-962-3355 for details or directions. The charge will be $5 per person made payable to LHHS Class of 1967.
ADVENT MUSIC
The Advent Church and Historical Museum located at 1303 Moose Run Road, Bellefonte, is hosting their second of three concerts, entitled Music at the Advent, that will be held this year. On Sunday, July 16, at 2 p.m. the music theme will be Centre County Bluegrass and will be featuring the Tussey Mountain Moonshiners. A special performance by artist, singer and fiddler Lindsey Fyfe is planned. For this concert Fyfe plans to dedicate it to the memory of her father, Dick Fyfe (1930-2022), to honor his lifelong love of music and art nurtured in our own Centre County area.
The public is invited to bring your lawn chair for added comfort and enjoy the concert as well as summertime refreshments of watermelon, cookies and lemonade. You'll also get a chance to meet the performers and to visit the on-site museum. All events are free. PATRIOTIC WINNERS
American Legion Post 623 in Beech Creek sponsored a house decorating contest during the Memorial Day weekend. Seven houses were entered in the contest this year. Gift card prizes were awarded to the top three with the most patriotic and beautifully decorated houses. First place winner was Lauryn Small who lives with her parents at 105 Main St., Beech Creek. Second place winner was Grace Hevner at 44 Monument-Orviston Road, Beech Creek. Third place winner was Kim Bechdel, living at 129 Lingle St., Blanchard.
REUNIONS
Descendants of Andrew Dill and Etta Confer will gather for a reunion on July 22 at noon at Pavilion #6 at Bald Eagle State Park. Please bring a covered dish to share and your choice of drink for the noon meal. Plates and silverware will be provided.
Kaye Brown is planning the reunion from her South Carolina home, so if anyone local would like to volunteer to help that would be great. Send Kaye an email at kayebrown@pctechguys.net or find her on Facebook.

YARD SALES
Centre Hall yard sales will be held today and tomorrow, June 23 and 24. Mr. Sticky's (sticky buns) will be at the fire hall at 134 N. Witmer Ave. in Centre Hall, and the fire company will also serve sandwiches and drinks both days.
100 Mile yard sale will be held on July 21 and 22.
Milesburg fall yard sale dates will be Oct. 6-7.
FAITH CHAPEL
Faith Chapel United Methodist Church in Hunter Run will be having their Roger A. White Fun Fair on Saturday, July 15, at the church from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Along with the Fun Fair there will also be a silent auction. Come enjoy countless games and a moon bounce along with great food and baked goods during the day. Sign up for the jello eating contest that begins at 1 p.m. Silent Auction bidding begins at 2 p.m. for some really nice items that have been donated.
Faith Chapel's Bargains and Blessings Community Closet will also be open in the church for you to browse and purchase new and gently used clothing in all sizes. Get a whole bagful of clothes and accessories for just $5.
RACE WINNERS
Porter Township Heritage Days 5K Run/Walk finishers were as follows:
Fourth Place finisher was Nolan Cross; Third Place went to Chea McAllister; Second Place finisher was Cody Etters and the race winner was Zach Haines. A unique win for being the first to finish with her child pushed in a stroller goes to Spencer and Gibison Garlock.
Thanks to all of the race contestants. The proceeds from the race were used to support the Porter Township Heritage Festival and fireworks.
