SUMMER CAMP
Howard Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a summer camp for children the week of July 10-14. Color Competition Summer Camp is for those entering kindergarten up through those who will be entering fifth grade. The summer camp will run each morning from 9-11 a.m. and will be held at West End Park (out past the old Woolrich building, now GP Cabinets) in Howard. Preregistration is preferred, but not required. LAMAR CONCERTS
Lamar Lighthouse Camp is having their summer concerts on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m.
On July 2 the concert will be brought by Tru-Vintage. The concerts are free to attend, but a love offering is taken during the service. Lamar Lighthouse Campground is located along Route 64 in Lamar. For more info call Lynette at 570-337-0203.
ORVISTON FESTIVAL
The annual Orviston Festival will be held July 7-8, and everyone is invited to attend.
Friday night activities kick off with a wiffle ball derby starting at 6 p.m. Registration is required from 4:30-6 p.m. There are about 30 different vendors who will be there selling their wares as well as food and sodas. Tickets for the basket raffle will be sold on Friday night and all day on Saturday.
On Saturday the festivities begin with breakfast at the pavilion from 7-9 a.m. Horseshoe sign-ups and warm-ups are from 9-11 a.m. Pre-register with Brad at 570-367-9397.
Opening ceremony is at 10:30 a.m. at the stage and Orviston area veterans will be honored, too!
The horseshoe tournament begins at 11 a.m., followed by live music on the stage.
The festival parade is at 2 p.m., with line-up starting at 1 p.m. out Blue Row.
The annual Brick Float at the creek begins at 6 p.m. followed by the raffle winners being drawn.
The Lomison Family and Friends will take the stage from 7-9 p.m., followed by closing remarks, just before those fantastic fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.
ADVENT MUSIC
The Advent Church and Historical Museum located at 1303 Moose Run Road, Bellefonte, is hosting their second of three concerts, entitled Music at the Advent, that will be held this year. On Sunday, July 16, at 2 p.m. the music theme will be Centre County Bluegrass and will be featuring the Tussey Mountain Moonshiners. A special performance by artist, singer and fiddler Lindsey Fyfe is planned. For this concert Fyfe plans to dedicate it to the memory of her father, Dick Fyfe (1930-2022), to honor his lifelong love of music and art nurtured in our own Centre County area.
The public is invited to bring your lawn chair for added comfort and enjoy the concert as well as summertime refreshments of watermelon, cookies and lemonade. You'll also get a chance to meet the performers and to visit the on-site museum. All events are free. FAITH CHAPEL
Faith Chapel United Methodist Church in Hunter Run will be having their Roger A. White Fun Fair on Saturday, July 15, at the church from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Along with the Fun Fair there will also be a silent auction. Come enjoy countless games and a moon bounce along with great food and baked goods during the day. Sign up for the jello eating contest that begins at 1 p.m. Silent Auction bidding begins at 2 p.m. for some really nice items that have been donated.
Faith Chapel's Bargains and Blessings Community Closet will also be open in the church for you to browse and purchase new and gently used clothing in all sizes. Get a whole bagful of clothes and accessories for just $5.
