2 min read

LOCK HAVEN -- The Alzheimer's Support Group of Clinton County will meet Tuesday, July 11th at 7 PM at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 West Main Street in Lock Haven. The group, sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Pennsylvania and Covenant Church, is open to anyone caring for someone with dementia or any memory loss related disease and for those interested in learning more about dementia. The goal of the group is to provide education and support to family and non-family caregivers alike.

The Support Group will be discussing caregiver stress and depression both of which are common among those caring for loved ones, especially those with memory loss. Fran Decker, MSW and support group facilitator will offer tips to help with these issues. The importance of recognizing the symptoms and seeking treatment will be reviewed.

The support group is free and meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7 PM at the church. Parking is available in the church parking lot and the building is handicapped accessible. Sitter service can be provided to the person with dementia while the caregiver is attending the meeting but prior arrangements must be made with the group facilitator. For more information about the local support group or for sitter service for the July meeting, call Fran Decker, support group facilitator at 570-748-4302.
