Emma Evey, daughter of Julie and Justin Evey, of Lamar, was chosen as the 2023 Colonel Hugh White-Colonel John Chatham Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen. She gives back to the community and helps others by providing elderly with holiday cards, shoe boxes to unfortunate children and tutoring students to help them succeed in their education. Her future plans are to further her education with a Bachelor's in nursing at PA College of Technology, receiving a RN degree, then a Masters to become a Nurse Practitioner. School Counselor, Christine Koch, attended the meeting along with Emma's family. Emma Evey's essay was entitled Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for preserving it. The Focus Question was: "How will the essential actions of a good citizen (dependability, service, leadership and patriotism) meet the challenges that America faces in this decade?" Regent Jane F. Myers had presented Good Citizen Emma Evey with a certificate and Treasurer Joy Ketchum presented a check.
