WOODMEN SUPPER
WoodmenLife Chapter 691 of Howard will be having their annual Corn Boil and Hot Dog supper on Monday evening, Aug. 7, at Bald Eagle State Park. All chapter members and their guests are invited! Eating will begin at 6 p.m., so come early for fellowship. Bring a covered dish to share and your preference of beverage. Signs will be posted to the pavilion. SPORTSMAN'S CLUB
Liberty Township Sportsman's Association is holding a rimfire shoot on Aug. 5 beginning at 9 a.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. LTSA is located along Marsh Creek Road, Howard.
A Work Day is scheduled for Saturday, too! Bring your own tools to help the Sportsmen's Club with some projects that need to be taken care of, like clearing some brush, putting up lights and street signs and other odd jobs, starting at 8 a.m. Lunch will be provided!
The club will also be holding a muzzleloader shoot on Aug. 12. Sign-ups at 9 a.m. and shooting starts at 9:30 a.m. The shoots are open to the public. Bring your own eye and ear protection to all shoots.
On Aug. 19, at the club grounds there will be the first Masonic 50 Sporting Clay Shoot. Registration is from 8-11 a.m. with the entry fee being $50. Lock Haven Hospitaller Commandery #46 is hosting the shoot and giving away cash prizes and a Mossberg International Silver Reserve Eventide. Shooting starts at 9 a.m.
There will also be a Cash Bingo at the clubhouse beginning at 11 a.m. with cash prizes, basket raffle and 50/50 drawings. Food sales will be held from the clubhouse kitchen all day. Pulled pork and ham barbecue along with lots of other food items will be available.

LIBRARY EVENTS
The Friendship Community Library in Beech Creek is having several events during the month of August that you may be interested in.
On Aug. 7, 21 and 28 there will be Art Class with George Stefanski. Classes will be from 4:30-6 p.m. on Monday's. Anyone who is serious about learning to draw or who may be looking to improve their skills is invited to attend the classes. Classes are free and supplies will be provided. No registration is necessary. (No class on Aug. 14.)
On Aug. 8 there will be a Chatty Book Club at 4 p.m. The book that is being read is Lisa Jackson's "The Third Grave." A movie follows the book club, and all are welcome to stay.
The movie being shown on Aug. 8 is "Aladdin" featuring Will Smith as the Genie. The movie starts at 4:30 p.m. and popcorn is available. Drinks are permitted as long as they are in containers with lids. The handicapped/side door entrance will be unlocked for easy access.
On Aug. 22 there will be another movie night, this time featuring Disney's "Princess and the Frog." Popcorn will be available and drinks with lids will be allowed. The movie starts at 4:30 p.m.

CONCERTS
Lamar Lighthouse Camp is having their summer concerts on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. On Aug. 6 the Keystone State Quartet will be there and The Miller's will be performing on Aug. 13. All concerts are free to attend, but a love offering is taken during the service. Lamar Lighthouse Campground is located along Route 64 in Lamar. For more info call Lynette at 570-337-0203.
LIONS NEWS
Howard Area Lions Food Bank will be open on Aug. 7 for Centre County residents in the Lions servicing area. Come to food bank headquarters, the former Beech Creek Elementary School, and have your trunk loaded by our local Lions club from noon to 3 p.m. If you're new to the food bank program you'll need to take a moment to complete the paperwork that's needed.
Food distribution will be on Aug. 21 for residents living in the Beech Creek area of Clinton County.
The Lions will host a blood drive at the Howard Fire Hall on Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 1-6 p.m. Please consider becoming a blood donor this month. Blood supplies are critically low, and the Red Cross is hoping to get more people to become donors on a regular basis.
The Lions Club is always accepting new members who want to become involved with the Lions and to serve in their community. Our local Lions Club is now open to both men and women for membership. If you are interested in becoming a Lion you can get an application from any club member.
The Lions Club has medical equipment to loan out for those needing it. Canes, walkers, shower chairs, potty chairs, wheelchairs and hospital beds are just a few of the items that can be obtained free of charge from the club. If you have borrowed an item and are no longer using it please return it so that others may benefit from it. And, if you have items like these that are in good condition to donate to the Lions please give Lion Dwayne Haines a call at 570-962-2939.
Mark your calendar for September that food bank distribution for Centre County residents will be on Sept. 11 (changed because of Labor Day) and on Sept. 18 for Beech Creek residents.
PUBLIC
MEETING
The Howard Fire Company will be hosting a public meeting at the fire company's Yearick Center to discuss the fire tax that is collected for the fire company. The meeting will be held Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m.
Fire company officials will be discussing the fire department's financial status, current apparatus and future apparatus, as well as many other topics. The fire company services Howard Borough, and the townships of Curtin, Howard and Marion. Most municipalities have a fire tax established. The mil rate varies a bit and has recently been raised in Marion Township.
This meeting will be an opportunity for the fire department to talk about the tax and explain what it is used for and to answer any questions the public has.
KBR BINGOS
Keystone Babe Ruth & More has special Bingo dates to help local organizations and individuals who may be going through a rough time. On Aug. 5 the Bingo will benefit the Pennsylvania Society for the Advancement of the Deaf, PSAD. Doors and the kitchen will open at 11 a.m. and Bingo starts at 1 p.m. Basket raffle prizes and rip tickets will also be available.
On Sunday, Aug. 20, a benefit Bingo will be held to support the Central Mountain Majorettes.
Last Saturday Bingo was held to benefit Kaitlin Toner, a young mother of two who is in her 30's and battling breast cancer. Thanks to Brandon and Lynnette (Packer) Kline for hosting the benefit for Kaitlin, who is their neighbor. Thanks also to Lynnette's family, Greg, Judy and Shawn Packer, and others, who helped with hosting the benefit Bingo. There were 50 really nice baskets and prizes that had been donated to raise funds to help Kaitlin and her family.
Bingo is also held every Tuesday evening to benefit Keystone Babe Ruth Baseball. Doors and the kitchen open at 5 p.m. The Early Bird game is at 6:15 p.m. and regular Bingo games begin at 6:30 p.m. There's a Bingo bus for those who need a ride. The price is $2.50 each way and you must call beforehand to arrange your ride to and from. KBR Bingo is held on the third floor (elevator available) of the Piper Museum building in Lock Haven. YARD SALES & CRAFT FAIRS
McElhattan Community Yard Sales are this weekend, Aug. 4-5. Craft vendors are set up at the Clinton County Fair.
Bellefonte Craft Fair is today and tomorrow. The Tyrone Festival with many craft vendors is scheduled for Aug. 5.

The 56th Annual Foxy Heverly Reunion will be held Saturday, Aug.12, at the Mill
Hall Community Park, Pavilion 3. Reunion starts at noon with lunch at 12:30 p.m.
Remember to bring an adult/children gifts for auction and covered dish. Bring your swimming suits also, if you would like to visit the pool. Table service will be provided.
The 48th Annual Homer Walker/Velma Flegal Reunion will be held on Sunday,
Aug.13, at the Mill Hall Community Park, Pavilion 3. Reunion starts at 12:30 p.m. with lunch at 1 p.m. Remember to bring a covered dish and adult/children gifts for auction. Bring your swimming suits for the pool. Table service will be provided.
