McELHATTAN -- The Infant Development Program of Lock Haven held its first ever 5K walk/run recently on the Bald Eagle Valley Trail.

The racers who ranged in age from 13 to 66 convened at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, for an 8 a.m. start along a portion of the Bald Eagle Valley Trail at the Spook Hollow Road Access.

First to cross the finish line was Liz McCloskey, with a time of 24:48. Following close behind was Jennifer Nicholson in second place at 26:00. The third place finisher was Anna Miller, crossing the line at 27:32.

Racers enjoyed this initial event for a most worthy cause. Several participants were first time 5K racers and some were multi-generational -- with three generations from the same family staying the course. The conditions were perfect with a clear morning and serene views along the river with majestic maple trees and corn fields lining the trail.

The Infant Development Program is an early intervention program providing services based on the individual needs of the child and family. Other services they provide are the P.A.C.T. The Parent Enrichment Program offers evidence-based programs to all parents of children from birth to 13, including support and parenting skills for expecting mothers and fathers.

The Stepping Stones Preschool offers classes for typically developing 3-5 year olds. IDP also facilitates the Pennsylvania Elks Home Service Project, an in-home nursing support service offered to persons with developmental disabilities.

The Infant Development Program is a United Way agency.
