USCA Nationals start this week

LOCKPORT -- The U.S. Canoe Association's Canoe & Kayak Nationals will be held here in Clinton County from Aug. 10-13 on the Susquehanna River in Woodward Township.

The races will start each day at 9:30 a.m. at the Lockport Boat Launch, 316 Coudersport Pike, Lock Haven. Youth sprints will be held Aug. 10, and adult marathon races on Aug. 11-13.

Kettle Creek Music Fest to kick off Aug. 10

CROSS FORK -- The annual Kettle Creek Music Festival will be held on Aug. 10-12 at Quiet Oaks Campground, 88 Quiet Oaks Lane, in Cross Fork. Gates open at 2 p.m. on Wednesday for campers and then at 8 a.m. Thursday through Saturday for festival goers.

This is the 23rd year the music festival has been held, and features a weekend full of live music -- the oldies, country and classic rock -- that begins on Thursday at 4 p.m.

This year's theme is "Christmas Under the Stars," and will happen rain or shine, with plenty of food, arts and craft vendors, daily auctions, chainsaw carving and the annual double elimination Cornhole tournament.

Daily and weekend admission is charged, with the proceeds benefiting local nonprofits, military programs, EMS and youth programs. The festival offers a family and pet friendly event.

The festival committee asks that attendees bring an unwrapped toy to support the 30th annual Mark the Shark Toy Drive that is held annually in partnership with the Clinton County Toys for Tots program.

Adult Summer Camp Weekend

HOWARD -- The Nature Inn at Bald Eagle is hosting an Adult Summer Camp Weekend Aug. 11-13. Participants will enjoy the unique comforts of The Nature Inn and Bald Eagle State Park while having fun in the sun and refining your outdoor skills.

Speedway to host special

Saturday night race

MACKEYVILLE -- Clinton County Speedway Racing will host a special Saturday night race, the 410 Sprint Cars Phil Walter Classic on Aug. 12, at the Clinton County Fairgrounds, 98 Racetrack Road, Mill Hall.

This special Saturday night racing is presented by NAPA/Toner Auto Parts. In addition to the Walter Classic, Central PA Legends and the 4-cylinder Championship race will be run.

Introduction to Fly Fishing

LITTLE PINE -- This program will take place on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will be an "Introduction to Fly Fishing" happening at Little Pine State Park.

Fly fishing can be a fun way to fish for the first time or it can present a new experience for seasoned anglers. Anyone, ages 12 years and older, with an interest in learning the basics of fly fishing equipment, knot tying, casting techniques and on the water skills is welcome. It is the perfect opportunity to learn fly fishing basics and meet other fly anglers. All equipment is provided. Those under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
