Rally for Recovery sees record turnout

McELHATTAN -- The annual Rally for Recovery 5k and 10k trail race saw a record turnout this weekend.
The event, held Saturday at the Durty Dabbers Pavilion in McElhattan, had close to 170 races -- 130 in the 5k and another 40 in the 10k.
In the 5k, Latrel Walker crossed the finish line first with a time of 24:15. He was followed closely behind by Liz McCloskey at 24:23; Robert Jeiiles at 24:30; and Haden Heichel at 24:51.
In the 10k, Michael Dicello crossed the line first, just under an hour at 57:26. He was followed by Nick Walker with a time of 1:00; Robert Aungst at 1:05 and Shayden Hill at 1:08.
The rally, held each year by Advocates for a Drug Free Tomorrow and West Branch Drug & Alcohol Abuse Commission -- with co-sponsor AllOne Charities -- is organized by local business owner Nancy Hackenberg.
Various local organizations set up shop before and after the race, offering information about their services, too.
