LOCK HAVEN -- Because September is both the library's annual book sale and Library Card Sign-Up Month, the library is offering coupons to new patrons. In September, any new patron who signs up for a library card will receive a $5 coupon for the book sale. This offer applies to new patrons over the age of 18 who have not previously had a card.
The book sale will be held from Sept. 13 through Sept. 16. A special preview night will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12, with socializing, refreshments and the opportunity to buy books before anyone else. Tickets are available at the library for $20.
Author Jeff Frazier has spent years exploring the fascinating areas of Pennsylvania -- finding old landmarks and haunted places, stories and legends. Now, Frazier will be appearing at the Ross Library to share his new book," Pennsylvania Mountain Landmarks Volume I."
On Saturday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m., Frazier will discuss his new book, which deals with ancient hidden and unknown rock formations in the state of Pennsylvania. From ancient Native American cairns to stone sculptures in the forests, Frazier explores many of these sites.
Learn the art of Zentangle with artist Esther Piszczak! Zentangle is a relaxing way of drawing structured images. The program will be held on Sept. 25 from 6-8 p.m.
Movies are shown at the Ross Library every month. On the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m., the library will be showing a different movie. The movies will be shown on the third floor of the library, with popcorn available. On Sept. 21, the library will show "The Shawshank Redemption," and on Oct. 19, it will be "Annihilation."
On the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m., join the Ross Library for Adult Storytime. Each month, a volunteer will read a different short story to adults 18 and up. Snacks will be provided. The next session will be on Sept. 12.
Mah-Jongg is a fascinating game that, when played in real life, is nothing like the computer version. The Mah-Jongg Mentors will be at the Ross Library at 6 p.m. every Thursday in September to teach participants the fun and enjoyable game for free.
"Knit-Picking" will be held on the second Monday of every month at 6 p.m. Bring your knitting supplies and come knit or crochet in a relaxing environment.
"Saturday Crafternoons" is a crafting program held on the last Saturday of each month. Each session begins at 12:30 p.m. with a simple craft. On Sept. 30, the craft will be book trinket boxes.
