LOGANTON — After completing renovations on their Victorian-era home, Ed and Traci Miller put their all into the final touches on the event venue just a short trip down the road.
The barn has been extensively renovated into the perfect venue for those looking for a rustic space without giving up any of the amenities that make any event run smoothly. Everything has been thought of, from the decorations inside the barn to the convenience of ample parking spaces and having a church right across the street for weddings.
Not only did the Millers transform the barn into a three-floor event space, they added much needed quality of life pieces that enhance the convenience of the space.
“We tried to keep it rustic,” said Traci. “But then you have all of the different layers. Most barns have just the main floor.”
“Usually you’re all at one level,” said Ed. “Having the levels makes it so (the bridal party) can see everyone and everyone can see them.”

Being caterers themselves, they knew the common struggles when they’re tasked with catering an event. They added a kitchen area with a stove, warming racks, sink and a walk-in cooler.
“We cater weddings a lot,” said Ed. “There’s never anywhere to keep anything cool. So we built this. They can put anything in here and keep it cool, and it’s right by the bar. We tried to think of issues we run into when we cater.”
The bottom floor of the barn houses the kitchen and bar — featuring a five-keg kegerator, a wine rack and numerous tables and chairs.
The entirety of the inside of the space is all hand hewn, old wood. Though they had the outside rewrapped, they kept the inside as original as possible.
Outside of the barn itself there are a few different areas for guests to mingle.

Directly off the second floor of the barn there is a large porch with a ramp leading to the ground level. To the right of this ramp is a “smoking area” with chairs and a cigarette receptacle to keep debris from the ground.
Near the smoking area is a fire pit with chairs, giving the guests the option to have a fire at their event.
By the barn is a small pavilion made from the metal top of an old corn crib, one of the many refurbished pieces on the property.
They also took the wire from this corn crib and made an archway for guests to have photo opportunities in; they plan on having a vining plant growing over the archway as well.
“We saved everything we could. We tried to have everything an event space would need, too. (The people using the space) don’t have to rent a tap system, they don’t have to rent tables or chairs. It has three bathrooms inside,” said Ed.

Ed and Traci have plans to expand their venue with a large pavilion to the back of the property. They also plan to add a spiral staircase to the back porch for an outside access to the third floor.
“We went to a lot of barn weddings and decided to try it ourselves,” said Traci. “We know what other barn-weddings did and didn’t have.”
The barn recently opened for its first wedding, between Hannah Weaver and Tyler Hollobaugh.
Hannah has been close with the Millers for years — having worked for them at their business — The Twilight Diner — throughout high school.
“I have known Ed and Traci forever. My mom and Traci went to school together, I went to school with and played soccer with their kids. I worked at Twilight through high school and college and I still go there and help out. When we got engaged, they were still working on the barn,” said Hannah.
While still under construction, the Millers didn’t set a date for completion — not wanting to promise a venue to a customer and then not having the space ready. Hannah’s request to use the space inspired them to move quickly.
“I asked them to come check out the barn — I thought I would really like it. We came and walked around and I knew this is where we wanted to be. I love the multiple levels and the original beams that they have in here. It adds to the history and keeps the authentic look while having the newer additions,” said Hannah.
The bride’s Aunt Lisa was enthusiastic about the space.
“They didn’t try to make the space something it wasn’t,” she said. “They didn’t try to make it into some fancy venue — it’s rustic, and it’s beautiful.”
The couple have been able to fully decorate the space as they wish, from the centerpieces to the location of the ceremony.
“Ed and Traci have done a lot for me over the years. I love this place and love them. It worked out great that two of my favorite people have one of my favorite places,” said Hannah.
“It’s turning out,” said Traci. “We still have big plans, but it’s all coming together. The venue is ready to go.”
The Millers plan to have a “Wedding Expo” on the property, though there is no set date yet.
“We want to have vendors here and have a big open house. We wanted to set up something for photographers, cake, cookies — just have some tables set up and people can book that day. It’ll be nice.” said Traci.
