LOCK HAVEN -- The Alzheimer's and Caregivers' Support Group will meet Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Laurie Welch, MPH, MCHES, will be the guest speaker.
Laurie will present a workshop from the Alzheimer's Association on "Dementia Conversations: Driving, Doctor Visits and Legal and Financial Planning." These sensitive topics are often difficult for family caregivers to broach. The session will be helpful to not only family caregivers but to anyone interested in learning more about Alzheimer's disease.
The Alzheimer's Association partnered with Penn State Extension to provide this educational program. The presenter, Laurie Welch is a Food, Family and Health Educator with Penn State Extension. Her responsibilities include planning and implementing non-formal educational programs in the area of health and nutrition. Laurie has worked for Penn State Extension for over 20 years and prior to that, she worked as a public health educator for the PA Department of Health.
The Support Group is free and open to anyone caring for someone with memory loss and to those interested in learning more about this topic. The group meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
